After a lot of delays, Stranger Things is finally here to give answers to our questions. It’s been three long years since we’ve visited Hawkins. The boys have certainly grown up, so have the girls both in their real lives and in the show. The third season saw the departure of Eleven, Mike, and her mother.
Now that the boys are ready to storm the high school, the fans can’t help but pray for a reunion of the troop. But, well, no worries, as the Duffer brothers are here to end our miseries and answer all our questions regarding the fourth installment.
Where will the Show Continue From?
The fourth season might be released after three years, but the show will pick up only six months after the Battle at Starcourt, which cost Billy his life. Will and Eleven have since left Hawkins and settled in California, and Hopper is still dead. So for the first time in three seasons, the group has separated.
The new season will see the action taking place in four separate places, one of them being Russia since Hooper seems to be held captive. The other three action places are the Lab, the Creel House, and California.
Cast
Well, we know Dacre Montgomery will not be returning for the fourth season since his character Billy was killed off in the last season. So we will not be seeing him other than maybe in flashbacks if any. Among the regulars, we expect to see everyone. Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnap, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, GatenMatarzzo, Natalie Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Winona Ryder, and Millie Bobbie Brown will be reprising their respective roles.
Apart from them, Robin, played by Maya Hawke, will also come back. The character has gained immense popularity among the masses. Among the newcomers are Jamie Campbell Bower of The Mortal Instruments fame. He will be seen taking up the role of an attendant at the psychiatric hospital Peter Ballard. Eduardo Franco from Booksmart will be portraying the role of Argyle, Jonathan’s new friend.
What are the Movies Influencing the Show?
According to the show’s official Twitter handle, it seems that the writer’s table has been taking inspiration from five movies, namely The Fisher King, You’ve Got Mail, Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, Ordinary People, and The Peanut Butter Solution. Well, The Fisher King and Ordinary People deal with people trying to cope in a big city after losing someone close. So this might indicate the Bryers trying to adjust to a life outside Indiana.
The Peanut Butter Solution is a more uncertain reference. The horror fantasy movie has a plot of children being exploited by an adult authority, much like Eleven’s story from the past. As far as You’ve Got Mail is concerned, we don’t know what connection this Tom Hanks movie has to the show, but it definitely would be interesting to find out.
The New Poster
The team has come out with a poster revealing the dates. The producers have decided to divide the finale season into two chapters. The fourth season or the first chapter is released May 27, and the second episode or fifth season is released on July 1 only on Netflix.
The creators have also released four other posters letting us know about the four places where the series will take place. It will be an interesting last ride and a scary one, too, as the Duffer Brothers have confirmed that the 4th season is the scariest till date.
