The movie Moneyball is an American Drama and Sports film written by Steven Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin, and Bennett Miller directs the film. This movie Moneyball is based on the book “Moneyball: The Art Of Winning An Unfair Game” which was penned by Michael Lewis and released in 2003. 

This film casts Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Robin Wright, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and some real-life baseball players who were part of the team. The movie Moneyball was released on the 23rd of September 2011 and had a running time of 2 hours and 13 minutes.

In the movie Moneyball we can see Billy Beane (Brad Pitt), a baseball general manager facing challenges alongside Peter Brand (Jonah Hill), an economics student; and they both try to build a robust team using computer-based techniques. 

The story shown in the film Moneyball is a real-life story. The story starts when the Oakland team’s best players, Jason Giambi, Johnny Damon, and Jason Isringhausen, decide to abandon their team; with that incident, Oakland’s team now has to build an effective team for the competition; that is going to happen in the year 2002; but the team’s general manager Beane has a big challenge awaiting him, and that is, he has to build an effective team, but the budget is constrained.

Moneyball: Plot

Beane decides to trust Brand’s method of signing undervalued players into the team; and the athletic scouts are not at all happy with this decision; the head scout Grady Fuson will say that he ruined the team in a heated argument with Beane, so he fires the head scout from the team. 

The athletic manager Art Howe also troubles Beane in this process; Howe decides to discard the strategy of Beane and Brand.

The Oakland Athletics

The Oakland Athletics team players are already 10 behind by ten games; and the team has to face a lot of criticism regarding the new strategies of the team. But the team slowly manages to win 19 matches, and Beane’s daughter convinces him to attend the next game. 

At the game, where he witnessed the 20th consecutive win, which was a record-breaking win streak; they managed to win all the games in World Series using their computer-based system. Oakland Athletics managed to win the 2002 American League West title; but they lost in the match against the Minnesota Twins in the American League Division Series.

About Beane

Beane has gained value as a general manager for the team; and he gets offers from other baseball teams to become their general manager. However, Brand rejects a $12.5 million salary. If Beane had accepted that offer, he would have been the highest-paid general manager in the history of sports.
