Plot
The story of Ni no Kuni begins with an old man standing on the roof of a hospital. He points his cane to the sky and exclaims that he is about to invoke magic. Although the audience might initially mistake him to be absolutely senile, they are quickly proved wrong when Haru, Yu, and Kotona are taken to a parallel world. Their new world is full of enigma and awe, where anthropomorphism resides throughout.
There are heaps of sorcery, wet and muddy. Haru is an absolute basketball star while Yu is comparatively silent and on the introvert end. This boy in a wheelchair is that friend in schools and colleges to whom one can confide anything and take advice. Kotona is Haru’s girlfriend and is bubbling with energy and enthusiasm throughout the story. But Yu secretly loves her. This trio hails from the group of high school-goers in the town.

The script of Ni no KunianimeNetflixwas perhaps the most intriguing part of the entire anime. It reflected the flavor of humor and adventure and also showed how to maintain a fine line of difference between humor and comedy. Ni no Kuni was more to the humorous side, thereby bringing out the colors of laughter and smile from the audience just through dialogue exchanges.
Acting
Acting through the voice is one of the most difficult aspects of the job. And when it is an anime, a lot depends on the voice artists in terms of the overall performance. However, for Ni no Kuni, the voice works were not very impactful. They were quite generic in the approach, adding minimal flavor to the backdrop.
Cinematography, Special Effects & Editing
with Justin RyouKujiraias the DOP, cinematography undoubtedly stood out in a good way. JinNogawa as the editor made an impeccable job.
Direction
Yoshiyuki Momoseas the director of Ni no Kunicould have restricted the anime from messing up the concept of the game. The usage of animation on the screen, though balanced, seemed a little out of place from the movie itself. What happens usually could have been portrayed in different ways to make the anime stand out. Instead, the traditional love triangle concept was executed with no new flavor at all.

Ni no Kuni doesn’t make a very remarkable mark as an anime. So the suggestion would be to skip it, especially for those who are very thorough about the game.
