He seems to be hiding something dark behind the background. Lucas is not like all other children as he keeps being trembled by something, and for this reason, he keeps on scribbling in his notebook.
This act of his was noticed by Julia, who is his elementary school teacher. And she thinks of helping him as she and her brother Paul have gone through some dark things in their childhood. The main secret revealed in the movie is that it is about some wendigo monster who eats the beings and makes them a beast-like himself but where is the beast, and this question will only be answered when we get ourselves to watch the movie.
