Brian Andrew Mendoza directs Sweet Girl, a 2021 action movie written by Philip Eisner and Gregg Hurwitz and directed by Mendoza in his feature directorial debut. Observers gave the Netflix film mixed reviews when it was released on August 20, 2021.
‘Sweet Girl’ tells the story of a family dealing with the death of their mother, the cause of which Ray has blamed on the drug company BioPrime. Then, after the collapse of his wife’s marriage, Ray strikes out in a vengeful fury, seeking revenge against those who betrayed him and the life of his young daughter. Finally, in a twist that nobody expected was that Ray was killed well before the movie began, and Rachel (Isabela Merced) has been the angel of vengeance from the very beginning.
While critics have given the film mixed reviews, it still enjoys popularity. The thriller currently holds the number one spot on Netflix’s top 10 list and in the movie section.

ToggleIs a Remake of Sweet Girl Possible for the Fans?
It is primarily “Sweet Girl’s” surprising conclusion that led to the belief that it could lead to a sequel. In the ending, it is revealed that everybody’s fights and conversations earlier on with Ray Cooper were actually with Rachel without going through every beat.
Despite not yet being given official approval, Sweet Girl 2 has reached the top of the global streams since its release, and the success has lasted beyond its first weekend, which suggests that at least some of the success will thrive. But, of course, Netflix must always consider that in deciding to make a subsequent film. Besides the film’s Jason Momoa twist, other factors are at play, including public reactions.
From the director’s perspective, he would “absolutely” recommend the franchise if a second contract were offered. Even though the review rating is low, the early results seem positive. The platform tends to do well with actions like this.
Family is at the Heart of Sweet Girl
The film is a great example of the strength of a familial bond, aside from the plentiful action and butt-kicking sequences. As a result of Amanda’s death, Ray and Rachel become so distraught that they become incapable of coping with the situation. As a result, several influences on their lives change drastically – they become consumed with revenge, and the effect of their trauma is apparent throughout the film. However, because violence and death forever alter their lives, the bond between the Coopers isn’t over. Rather, Rachel tries to continue the job her father started for her, as she continues to love him.
When Sweet Girl 2 is Expected to be Released
Netflix has not yet confirmed Sweet Girl 2 for the streaming service, but we expect it to come out sometime in 2022. Sweet Girl was filmed between November 2019 and July 2020, so it will not take long to complete the film’s sequel.
Story Details for Sweet Girl 2
It would be possible for Rachel to further expand on her mission to exact revenge in conjunction with the furious protest against the financialization of healthcare that Merced has advised against in every situation.
Despite his death two years before Sweet Girl’s events may make it seem that Ray is not available to return, Rachel could continue to protect herself through the projection of her father if he doesn’t come back. But, of course, another possibility is that he is not dead at all.
