The American thriller, horror, and rom-com film of 2022, namely, Fresh, was released on January 20, Thursday, on the first night in 2022, at Sundance Film Festival. It will be officially released in the United States on March 4, 2022. This 114 minutes movie will be available in English on Hulu (United States) and Star (International). Later on, the movie will be released on other platforms as well.

The movie is about Noa, who is tired of dating, and then she finds Steve but later gets to know about his appetite for women.

Who are in the Cast and Crew?

The original cast includes Noa, who Daisy Edgar-Jones plays from the series Normal People. Steve, who Sebastian Stan plays. Millie, who Jonica T. Gibbs plays. Ann, by Charlotte Le Bon. Paul, by Dayo Okeniyi. Penny, by Andrea Bang, and Chad by Brett Dier.

Fresh is directed by Mimi Cave as her directorial debut and produced by Adam McKay, Kevin J. Messick, and Maeve Cullinane. And written by Lauryn Kahn, who is a screenplay writer. Alex Somers is the original song composer for the movie.

What is the Movie About?

The movie starts just like other romantic comedy movies where Noa, who Daisy Edgar-Jones play from Normal People, is on her first date with an obnoxious and drip boy. He calls her a bitch after she confronts him and tells her that it will not work between them. Then he storms out and leaves. Noa isn’t very lucky at love, and she tells her best friend Mollie about how she hates dating games.

Later at a supermarket trip, she meets Steve, who Sebastian Stan plays for the first time. They start bonding over something unusual, grapes. Later, he asks for her number, and she gives; they are later seen making out. Romance is seen blooming between them.

She spends the night drinking wine at his lavishing private house with him. Sometimes people don’t realize what’s good for them because of failing so many times, and so did Noa with her love life. She didn’t have the strength to face another failure at love, so she blindly believed Steve.

Later Noa realizes how Steve isn’t what she thought he would be, that he has had an appetite for women since a young age and that she is not the only victim. She regretted not listening to her best friend Mollie’s red flag when they figured he didn’t have an Instagram account. The plot changes to horrific and serious after the first scene. The story continues with more variation.

What is the Message to the Audience?

The message to the audience by the film Fresh (Sundance) is that not everything is as it appears. There are secrets hidden, and shady moments occur because not everything is good and simple. It would help if you were not blind when choosing someone like your partner or friend. The cast and crew want to give the message of acceptance and intelligence.

Fresh (Sundance) received positive reviews from critics. 7.6/10 is the rating it received, and 73 out of 100 is the weightage based on 8 critics on Metacritic. It’s quite a very daring movie to be produced, and it is the strongest horror movie in a long time. However, the movie will disgust you, so it’s better to have a vomit bag beside you.

Cannibalism is shown in the movie very precisely. If you are someone with guts and tolerance, then you should stream this movie, but if you are a sensitive person, in my opinion, you should avoid it because it’s going to disgust you after the first scene of the film. The movie has got its priority clear which is to horrify the audience.

It starts as a romantic comedy kind of movie by the first scene but later we see a thriller and the last thriller that turns into horror. The movie will keep you entertained and curious yet disgust you. The plot excites the audience to watch it with its mysterious scenes. However, it also puts the audience off with the original and talented actors’ serious and horrified scenes.

The team has put in their best, so you can try this movie. Stopping halfway is better than never trying. Go stream it on March 4, 2022.
