Beverly Hills cop is a franchise of movies dealing with action comedy movies. The films have a lead actor, Eddie Murphy, who takes up Axel Foley’s role, an intelligent Detroit cop who constantly keeps traveling to the Beverly Hills, California. Usually, he goes there to investigate the crimes, but this area is out of his jurisdiction too.
Here, he meets Billy Rosewood, who is a detective, John Taggart, who is a sergeant, and Andrew Bogomil, who is a Lieutenant. The movies have crossed a total of $712 million worldwide. But they didn’t succeed when it came to putting these films into series, and thus Paramount decided to bring in just one more film for the franchise, but there’s no release date for that film by now.
The Beverly Hills Cop Movies
The very first movie was “Beverly Hills cop,” which was released on December 5, 1984. Martin Brest directed this movie. Then, after three years, they came up with another movie in the order named “Beverly Hills cop II.” This movie was released on May 20, 1987, and was under the direction of Tony Scott.
Then in the year 1994, the third movie came out. It was named “Beverly Hills cop III.” John Landis directed this movie. And after a long period, we’ve just heard the announcement of the coming of the fourth movie, but by now, there are no official announcements for it.
Beverly Hills Cop 1984
In this movie, Axel Foley is shown as the Detroit cop for the first time investigating the murder of his friend. He goes all the way to California and wishes to track the murderers, and he believes these men are operating an art dealership in Beverly Hills. So he takes up two detectives from the Beverly Hills Police Department with Billy Rosewood and John Taggart.
Beverly Hills Cop II 1987
In this movie, we see that Axel returns to Beverly Hills soon after hearing that Captain Andrew Bogomil has been shot. He again picks up his two detectives from the Beverly Hills Police Department, and they too willingly decide to help him find the murderer.
Soon the trio discovers that a series of crimes are coming up in the area. And these crimes would be under the supervision of the mastermind Maxwell Dent. And thus, with the clue derived, the trio tries to hunt down Dent and his lover, Karla, who had murdered Bogomil.
Beverly Hills Cop III 1994
This movie again begins with Axel’s return to Beverly Hills. Here he has an assignment, but then his boss, inspector Todd is killed, and there are a set of pieces of evidence that clearly state that there are some suspicions on the amusement park named “Wonderworld.”
The Coming of the Fourth Movie
In 2020, this movie was delayed because of the global pandemic situation, but the idea of bringing in another movie was conceived a long time ago. Since then, they have been working on it, but rather too slowly. So hence we just know that it would be coming, but that’s not sure.
