God’s Favorite Idiot is an American apocalyptic workplace comedy series. The story follows Clark, a man who got struck by an angelic cloud’s lightning and can now glow. His coworkers believe that this is somehow connected to God.

Netflix God's Favorite Idiot

All their fears are confirmed when a descended angel tells Clark that he has been chosen as God’s messenger and shall prevent the Apocalypse from happening. The show is perfectly comical with the best of stupid comedy and well-timed humor.

The first episodes aired on June 15th, 2022. The best part about the show is definitely Amily Luck, who happens to be my favorite character. Here are some things to know about the show.

How Many Episodes in God’s Favorite Idiot?

God’s Favorite Idiot’s first season had eight episodes. The show wrapped up with a typical cliffhanger, which means the show will probably be back for another season. The story focuses on Clark Thompson and his naiveness to his new role in the world.

He confides in his friend, who happens to be just as bad off as him in these situations. With a cliffhanger ending and it being popular, the show is practically destined to be renewed. Initially, the show was set to have 16 episodes, but after Netflix halted filming, they decided to air it in two 8-episode batches.

The Plot for Season 1

The story heavily depends on the two characters, Clark and Amily, but they do have a whole host of supporting characters. The story starts off with Clark Thompson gaining his abilities. He realizes the next day, as he’s driving down, that everything is happening in his favor, including the traffic lights turning green for him.

Amily tells her coworkers that when she was at the office late the other night, she could see Clark glowing. Clark decides to ask Amily out on a date, and she accepts. Here Clark begins to glow again. Now everyone can see what’s happening, and people record it.

As things progress, Clark finds out that he is God’s messenger to the world and is tasked with stopping the impending Apocalypse that could destroy the world.

Clark, naïve about his new role, confides in Amily. He has to figure out how to use his powers to save the world. He reveals the S on his chest along with a race against time to get in front of whatever may cause the Apocalypse.

Cast for God’s Perfect Idiot

The show casts Ben Falcone as Clark Thompson, Melissa McCarthy as Amily Luck, Leslie Bibb as Satan, Kevin Dunn as Gene, Yanic Truesdale as Chamuel, Usman Ally as Mohsin Raze, Ana Scotney as Wendy, Chris Sandiford as Tom, Steve Mallory as Frisbee, Michael Mcdonald as Lucifer and Magda Szubanski as Bathroom God.

Where to Watch

God’s Favorite Idiot is available to stream on Netflix right now. The season has eight episodes, with eight more sets to release sometime in the future. It is a great comedy show with a lot of giggles and some laughs that could make you cramp. I highly recommend you give it a try, and you won’t regret it.
