What Is The Plot Of The Movie?

Spike Lee’s movie Oldboy follows Joe Doucett, who is an executive in the advertising department. However, he is kidnapped without any initiative and is held hostage for a long period of twenty years. Now, he is filled with vengeance and is adamant about finding out the reason why was he held hostage. Joe embarks on an intense mission to locate the culprits. He gets into shape and is intent on getting revenge.

In tracing the list of those who will pose trouble on his path, he discovers links that open up various traces to his sordid past. However, there is only one goal to his life now, that is to find the person who has stolen the past two decades from him. Spike Lee’s movie did not make it big in the big office. It has received mixed critics reviews and is praised for its visuals and acting skills.

What Are The Differences From The Original Movie?

Between the 2013 remake and the 2003 original movie, there are various differences. The imprisonment term in both movies differs. It is for ten years in the original movie, while 20 in the other. Moreover, in the remake version, there is a removal of the hallucination aspect. In the 2003 movie, the rape of a character does not occur. There are also changes in the incarceration of Joe and Oh Dae-Su. And, the endings also starkly differ in both the movies.
