The story of the series is about a real-life pirate of the 18th century named Stede Bonnet who is played by Rhys Darby. After having a smooth going life of that of a gentleman, Stede decides to be a pirate of the ship named Revenge. Throughout the journey, he fails to earn the respect of his crew members. They come across well-known pirates like Blackbeard and comes across the French and British navies. It is after going with the dangers of the sea together that the crew and Stede get along and work together to stay alive in the vast sea.
