Parallel Mother, who is also famous by the name Madres paralelas, is a beautiful Spanish and one of the best movies of this year. The movie premiered on 1st September this year at the Venice Film festival, where the main actress of the movie Cruz also received the best actress award for her beautiful and elegant acting.
The production of this movie started in February and ended in April. The movie features some of Hollywood’s most talented and award actors, including Julieta Serrano and Penelope Cruz.
The Plot of the Movie
Well, the plot of the movie is quite refreshing and focuses on motherhood along with a glimpse of Spanish history and culture. The movie shows how two single ladies interact in a hospital room as they prepare to give birth to their babies. One of them is in her forties and has no regrets about the baby, while the other is immature and horrified.
As they each deal with parenting challenges, the two women create a deep friendship. Later, on the movie highlights how they struggle with the Spanish civil war and overcome the challenges together, sharing their happiness and sorrow.
Is the Parallel Movie Mothers Worth Watching?
This movie is definitely worth watching because of its refreshing yet compassionate storyline and wonderful ending. It’s a beautiful movie that unfolds like a thriller at another level, with unexpected twists and turns similar to telenovela suspense accompanied by incredible acting.
However, we can see beyond the lovely motherhood and happy times of the storyline and even witnessing Penelope Cruz via Almodovar’s compassionate eye. There is still something more in this wonderful movie. At its essence, Parallel Mothers has really described Spain and the persistent effects and suffering of the Spanish Civil War, which led to the deaths of some families, partners, and children.
Even though the movie was shot during the pandemic, it did a great work of delivering the fans more than they expected, leaving them mesmerized till the end.
Does the Movie have a Happy Ending?
Yes, the movie had a beautiful and joyful ending making the fans delighted. In the final scenes, we can see that Ana, the infant’s biological mother, will raise the baby. The young woman has reconciled and forgiven Janis and will permit her to be a part and member of the child’s growth, according to the movie’s ending. We also got to see that the skeleton of the people who vanished is located in a tomb beyond the Janis.
We watch their corpses recompose in the final scene, going to the stage just after killing. It’s an analogy where the Spanish filmmaker hopes to represent the resurrection of the deceased’s basic humanity, and sense of belonging after the burial in which they were buried is found, and their bones are verified and given to their family.
