Photocopier, Wregas Bhanuteja’s all-new feature-length directorial debut, is a popular Indonesian criminal mystery drama film set in 2021 that he co-wrote and directed. The movie made its international debut in the New Currents competition at the 26th Busan International Film Festival in October 2021.
From out seventeen nominations, the movie received a total of twelve Citra Awards, comprising Best Picture and Best Director. It holds the record for the most Citra Awards earned by such a single movie.

Sur misses her scholarships after her inebriated selfie becomes viral online, and she is accused of bringing dishonor to her university. But, on the other hand, Sur has no recall of the events that transpired since she passes out only when she attends a college party. Sur then enlists the aid of her childhood friend, Amin, a photocopier who also works and lives on campus, to figure exactly what transpired that night.
How did the Production Go for the Movie?
During the COVID-19 outbreak, Photocopier was manufactured in Jakarta, lasting twenty days, following local COVID-19 safety measures. Bhanuteja used the photocopier to portray a sexual assault victim and to raise awareness about the issue.
Bhanuteja and his colleagues had already spent a year researching the matter, including beginning interactions involving sexual assault victims. So we immediately began talking to anti-rape campaigners, including actress Hannah Al Rashid, who was engaged inside the screenplay for the movie.

Photocopier made its international debut in the New Currents competition at the 26th Busan International Film Festival in October 2021. Netflix purchased the film’s distribution rights, and it will be released on January 13, 2022.
