This is a historical drama series that is based on a novel by Winston Graham. The first season was released on March 8, 2015, on BBC One. And right then, the announcement for the second season was also made. And since then, the show has successfully finished five seasons so far.
What is the Show About?
Captain Ross Vennor Poldark was amongst those who were in the American war of Independence. After a long span of time, he returns back to his hometown after the war. His house is in Cornwall. He was returning back to this place after three years. All this while he spent his time serving in the war.
But he’s totally unaware of the situation here. In his absence, his father, Joshua, has passed away. His estate has been destroyed, and he has already incurred a lot of debt. And to make situations even more worse, Elizabeth, the girl he admired as a young boy, has been engaged to his cousin.
Demelza, a young woman, happens to meet Ross in the market. Ross hires her to be a domestic servant at his place, but then they fall for each other and get married. The whole series focuses on how Ross and Demelza, Elizabeth and Ross’s cousin, deal with their lives, their personal matters, finances, children, and then the situation of war.
What Happened in the Previous Episodes?
In the finale of season 4, we saw that Elizabeth induced her labor by drinking a dangerous potion. She gave birth to a really beautiful and healthy baby girl. They named her Ursula. But then the dangerous potion caused some mishap in her, and soon Elizabeth expired.
What to Expect in Season 5?
Elizabeth is no more, and now Ross and Demelza are determined to live a simple life. But things don’t go as planned. George is depressed because he has lost his beloved. But then the grief won’t stop him from taking up his meetings and going on with his business. It would be a moving part, as we would see that despite all the struggles and problems, there’s still a little hope for love there, and still, there would be chances that people wish to cling on to each other.
Things will come and go, but then it would be memorable for each one of them. Well, that’s exactly how life goes on. George would be in a very bad situation because he’s mourning the loss of his beloved wife. He has to cope up with the loss and also go on with his life. We do not know how he would react or how he would behave with others now.
There might be some judgments to his character too, because he was a different person before, but the situation will make him a different person altogether.
