Roswell, New Mexico on Amazon Prime, is a fictional science drama based on the book series of Melinda Metz named Roswell High. Currently, in its 3rd season, the series deals with a teenage undocumented girl and her alien boyfriend. Liz Ortecho is a biomedical researcher.
Upon coming back to her hometown Roswell in New Mexico she learns that her teenage crush is in real life an alien who kept this as a secret throughout his life. She vouches to protect his secret as they both try to fight against violent attacks which are indicative of the existence of a greater alien Force on earth that acts as a constant threat to his identity and the human race as well.
Stream It Or Skip It?
The show is evidently about cowboys and aliens but deals with deeper concepts of love, family, friendship, and emotions which are complicated in nature. The show is on point with its representation of characters and their perspectives all making a very special occasion.
The story writing is very intriguing which keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats. The icing on the cake is the brilliant dialogues that make the show even more endearing. You should definitely STREAM IT! Do not fall for unnecessary criticisms for the show is much more than what it appears to be and you wouldn’t be disappointed.
What do our Critics Say?
The show, although made in recent times, is still stuck in its predecessor’s storyline from the 1999s. Few changes are made here and there, especially with Liz’s nationality but they still appear dated. The only modern reference is Liz’s complaining about how much money is being wasted on building the wall.
The show is good in its presentation but lacks freshness. Therefore, it seems no point watching it when the original is already available on Hulu which is a far more superior version.
Cast
The series stars Jeanie Mason and Michael Trevino in the lead roles of Liz Ortecho and Kyle Velantie. Jeanie is known for her striking presence on the ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ and Grey’s Anatomy. Tyler is known for his role in the very popular and loved TV series The Vampire Diaries. Clearly, he is not unaware of the supernatural.
Other prominent cast members include Nathan Person who plays Max Evans, a townie policeman with a big secret. Tyler Blackburn from Pretty Little Liars plays a military man from the Middle East who is forced to follow his father’s footsteps leaving behind his love for his man of dreams.
Lily Cowels plays the role of the small-town sweetheart Isobel. Michael Valmis plays Michael, an intelligent and confused young man. Last but not the least, Heather Hemmens plays the role of Maria, Liz’s former best friend, and a cyber geek. Much like Jeanie and Michael, Heather too had made appearances in Grey’s Anatomy and The Vampire’s Diaries.

The show has been filmed in New Mexico and a bit shooting in various towns and cities. The show has been shot in Roswell in Chaves County.
The place is famous for various reasons among which is the famous Roswell UFO incident which catered to several conspiracy theories worldwide. Then it was shot in Santa Fe which plays a significant role in the series. A lot of the shooting was done in Santa Fe Studios on 1 Santa Fe Studios road.
