A film of the same name inspires the Day of the Dead TV series. The film was released on SyFy on October 15, 2021, and the series will be following in its footsteps. The dead creatures are walking freely across the town. Humans are trying to have the upper hand on them but seem to be as monstrous as these zombies. The story starts with scenes from the fictional town of Mawinhaken. Paula Bowman (played by Miranda Frigon) is seen firing shots along with her son Luke (played by Daniel Doheny). Paula is focused on winning the elections.
Cam, the son of McDermott (the cop), is focused on getting out of the town. He is also seen flirting with Laureen Howell (played by Natalie Malaika). Things take a wrong turn when Sarah Blackwood (played by Morgan Holmstrom) discovers a masked corpse while she is working with her crew. Her boss tries to cover up the incident so that the work can be continued uninterrupted.
