Season 1 (Spoilers)
The show is an adaptation of the crime novel of the same name by Caleb Carr. The story follows three main characters; Laszlo Kreisler, a criminal psychologist, John Schuyler Moore, a newspaper illustrator, and Sarah Howard, a police secretary.
The trio is brought together by acting commissioner Teddy Roosevelt when a child prostitute is murdered. Various murders of other child prostitutes are linking together by the team. During the investigation, the team meets with resistance from other New York police members, whose main motive is to protect the High Society’s reputation. The team catches the killer in the end but are unable to discern his motives.
Season 2
Season 2 will follow the next book in this series by Caleb Carr, The Angel of Darkness. The events of the book take place a year after the previous edition has ended. Sarah Howard is a private investigator now and seeks Leszlo’s help to look for a Spanish dignitary daughter.
