The Baker’s Son is a movie that revolves around Matt, who is a baker and Annie, who runs a diner. The main filming locations of the movie were Cowichan Bay, Chemainus and Brentwood Bay. The movie was released on June 12, 2021, and is available to watch in English and French.

Storyline

The movie takes the concept of ‘made with love’ way too seriously but in a good way. The Baker’s Son story is about a baker named Matt who falls in love at first with a dancer named Nicole. Suddenly, his baked breads start tasting wonderful and become the reason for the flow of the tourists in Windward, a town described as facing an economic crisis in the movie.

The flow of tourists helps in reviving the economy of the town. Matt’s father, who was French by origin, believed that the reason behind his wonderful breads was because he was in love. But as soon as Matt and Nicole tend to part ways, the town residents assign the duty to his childhood friend Annie to keep the love within Matt alive.

What do the Critics Say About the Movie?

The critics found the concept of the movie way too silly and some characters too lame and irritating. Many people even found the main lead Matt too lame and disliked him for mistreating his childhood best friend, Annie, after falling in love with Nicole. It was just a ‘two best friends falling in love’ story weaved in a slightly different way with the weird concept of relating taste of food with falling in love with someone. mistreating his childhood best friend, Annie

The cast was excellent, but the portrayal of the characters should have been more accurate. Even with the slightly different storyline, the movie would have gained more popularity if the characters, by any chance, were exciting and relatable to the viewers.

Should We Stream it or Skip it?

Even with all the critics, the movie deserves atleast a once-watch by people who love the romance genre. The movie has a hidden meaning of how love can make people work for better or make them better.

It also portrays how friendship is what you need in love for it to be alive through the bond of Matt and Annie. The movie also gifts the viewers with beautiful scenery of where the movie has been filmed. So, even though not the best, the movie will not make the viewers regret watching it.
