Plot Of The Movie
The story starts with Bruno’s father, a Nazi officer getting a new job in the 1940 Berlin countryside. Bruno is not very happy with this news as he has to leave his friends and memories behind. After the family moves to the countryside, army officials visit their house daily. From his bedroom, Bruno watches farmers in the field who are wearing similar striped pajamas. Not able to hide his curiosity, Bruno goes to the farm to find out himself.
There he meets a boy who is of the same age as him and they become friends. But little does Bruno knows that his dad is in charge to run the death camp of Jewish prisoners and his friend is one of them.
This movie leaves an intriguing message which can be seen through the eyes of an 8-year-old boy in contrast to his German parents and officials. This movie has done a great job in capturing the intensity and brutality of Hitler and his Nazi officials towards Jewish.
The critical review of the film by the audience and critics has been positive and described as heart-touching and deep but on the other hand scholars and historians argue that the movie does not depict the historical events accurately. The arguments include statements like, the story is not realistic as the boy who Bruno meets across the barbed wire would have been killed even before the family arrived.
