Celie had a younger sister named Nettie. When a man came to ask Nettie for marriage, their abusive father offered Celie instead. Thus, she landed in an abusive marriage too.

This 1985 hit is all set to return to the screens once again. Back in 1985, this was considered critical, but still, it was a prize-winning movie. The film showcases the harsh and brutal life of Celie Johnson, who is the protagonist here. The story of the black people has always created a sense of pity in the audience.
