The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is an American Action movie complemented with a touch of Comedy. It Starring famous movie stars Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson and sequel to the previous blockbuster Hitman’s bodyguard. The genre has comedy, action, crime, thriller. All these aspects came together pretty damn well.
Is it even Worth Watching or Not?
If you liked the original, then you’ll LOVE this sequel!
More kills, more cursing, and more comic-book-style action. This time Michael is forced into action by Darius’s wife, Sonia (Salma Hayek), who is out for blood. Her husband had been kidnapped, and the last thing she heard him say was – find Michael Bryce. Meanwhile, Michael was still having mental issues from the last time he was teamed up with Darius. So when Michael is hunted down and eventually found by Sonia, every suppressed emotion regarding Darius Kincaid came rushing back ten-fold. Not to forget that Bryce’s doctor suggested he take a break from everything violent.
Sorry, Michael, Sonia has other plans. Bryce gets stressed beyond belief, and Mrs. Kincaid is on a whole tirade trying to get her husband back. The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is filled with comedic action from beginning to end, but the most surprising dialog was hearing Salma Hayek curse. It was the perfect mixture of Comedy with a touch of thrill. Ryan Reynolds reprised his role and continued from where we left him in the first film, just a bit less confident. Samuel L. Jackson was your classic Samuel L. Jackson – no real complaints. Everything and everyone else was secondary.
Even Ryan’s dad seemed to be an afterthought. This movie is all about action, with Michael, Sonia, and Darius as the good and bad guys from a Bond film. The swearing does get a little excessive, not sure how much of the movie they would be able to show when it airs on TV. The plot was where the movie was let down the most. The pacing was uneven, and very little character development happened outside of the three main leads. I was expecting a fun movie where Ryan Reynolds acts as a bodyguard to Salma Hayek while they mission to save her husband.
Instead, they rush through that in the first 10 minutes, and then it devolves into a plot taken straight out of James Bond, wherein a convoluted series of events they somehow get drafted into trying to stop the bad guy bent on destroying Europe. Oh, and the bad guy’s motivation doing this? He is mad because Greece ran out of money. In fact, in the whole movie, he only acts as the wife’s bodyguard in one scene. So, all in all, while it is a fun movie, it does not live up to the original, the trailers, or even the title.
Will there be Another Sequel?
As of now, there haven’t been any plans for part 3, and part 3 will likely be directed because of the massive success of parts 1 and 2 of the Hit man’s bodyguard franchise!
Till then, fans will have to enjoy the first and second parts themselves till the director thinks otherwise.
