What is the Plot for The Nowhere Inn?
The story revolves around Annie Clark, popular by St. Vincent, a successful musician. In order to make a documentary about her music tours and personal life, she hires her close friend Carrie Brownstein for the job. Carrie, who is an aspiring movie maker, decides to do the project and come out from the otherwise failing career in the television industry.
As soon as she began with the shooting, everything seemed to be on point. Annie’s dolled-up appearance with magnificent on-stage performances and energy-packed appeal served as promising content for the documentary. But soon after, as Annie begins her day-to-day activities, things start to get slow. Her absurd adherence for trying salads of different varieties and nerdy-girl-appearance-who-likes-to-play-scrabble made everything look dull.
Carrie then realizes that this part of the singer and songwriter’s life would be least enjoyable for the fans. She then becomes unable to manage the two sides of the star’s personality. Initially, she tries to be the good friend she is for Annie by not exploiting her personal life through the documentary. But slowly, she starts pushing Annie to amalgamate her rockstar persona with everyday life.
During the process of becoming St. Vincent all the time, the documentary turns out to be an altogether different film that no one expected. The situation goes out of hand to the extent that the friendship between Annie and Carrie starts to fall apart.
