From a screenplay by Robin Bernheim and Megan Metzger, Mike Rohl directs The Princess Switch, an American romantic comedy film. It takes its concept from Mark Twain’s 1881 novel The Prince and the Pauper, in which two people who seem identical run into each other and switch places. Actors Vanessa Hudgens, Sam Palladio, and Nick Sagar star in the film.

What is the Story of the Film?
In this holiday-themed doppelganger film, a pair of identical twins swap bodies. ‘Prince and the Pauper’ is essentially being retold. An exchange occurs between a baker from Chicago and the Duchess of Montenegro. Vanessa Hudgens plays both characters. In order to relieve stress, each takes the role of the other.
What is the Purpose of this Film?
This is a must-see for anyone who loves Disney Channel movies or holiday films. As the movie is rated PG, parents need to watch it as well. As charming as The Princess Switch is, it is partly due to Vanessa Hudgens’ natural charisma. As she parades about in peach silk nightgowns and elaborate hats, she makes up lies with a surprisingly good British accent.
Her giant eyes and bright smile light up the screen. In another running gag in Netflix’s collection of holiday movies this year, she even sobs over The Christmas Prince.
What We Think About The Princess Switch
This movie will probably be a challenge for you. You know exactly what you’re getting into if you’re a fan of Disney Channel or Hallmark Christmas movies. There isn’t much new in the story, but the setting and the on-screen dynamics between the main characters give this film enough charm. Vanessa interacts with her other self awkwardly, and the dialogue is corny throughout.
Criticism/Fan Reaction
There are few or no critical reviews when a book is first published. Once more reviews are in, we will update. There are very few user reviews on IMDb. The movie is currently sitting at a score of 6.6/10 at the time of writing. It’s a direct-to-stream Christmas movie, so the rest of the film revolves around her. I won’t spoil anything.
You’ll see lots of fairy lights and giant dresses! A cute child will throw a snowball at you! You’ll enjoy a piano duet! Warm beverages and cozy sweaters are abundant during this season! However, there are no wolves.) It’s all very schmaltzy, all very ridiculous. But if you’re a little bit drunk on eggnog, it’s quite fun to watch half-heartedly. Doesn’t that really sum up the spirit of Christmas?
Where does ‘The Princess Switch’ Take Place?
Belgravia is not a real place, as you probably already guessed. Margaret isn’t from Montenaro, and Montenaro isn’t a real place either. However, the film is not even filmed in the United Kingdom, despite being clearly based on the Royal Family. The majority of the production was made in Romania.
