ToggleThe Prom (2020): Plot

The Prom is a modern teenage story that follows the major issues of LGTB. It shows how difficult it is for a person to completely accept their purest form. The story revolves around one such teen girl named Emma, who faced various obstacles in her way when she wanted to bring her girlfriend named Alyssa to the college prom.
The PTA committee majorly opposed her, and her fellow mates bullied her for being gay. But, fortunately, as many obstacles she stumbled upon, she has equally received help and support. One from the principal Hawkers, another from four Broadway’s stars who started a rally to support her and the rest from random supporters.
Eventually, her struggle and demand for freedom did not go in vain. Her story did end with favorable reviews and critics. Since the movie takes up a bigger challenge of talking about something, many people are not aware of it as much about it in current times. Some believe it to have a loose story, whereas others believe it to be perfect the way it is.
The prom does not promise to entertain, and it simply promises to raise a point. The viewers are eventually becoming flexible about LGTB and their rights, but this is taking a slower than expected pace. This is why watching such a year back is certainly a different experience than watching in today’s time and will be different in upcoming times.
