Based on the Young Adult novel by Jandy Nelson of the same name, The Sky is Everywhere is a story about 17-year-old Lennie Walker who is mourning the death of her elder sister. Suppressed under the redwood of California and her grandmother’s unsurpassable rose garden, Lennie, who by the way is a musical genius, finds it hard reconnecting with music.
She finds herself in a fix as she tries to balance blossoming love and shared grief with her sister’s boyfriend. Directed by Josephine Decker, the story takes the path of magic realism to narrate its tale, especially during its skeptical moments. The story is visually appealing, thanks to the two-time Emmy nominated Ava Berkofsky, who brings alive the place with his beautiful color pallete and leaves one in extreme happiness.

What to Know Before Watching?
The story follows a 17-year-old musical genius, Lennie, submerged in grief after the passing away of her elder sister. As she starts living in the dense suburbs of Northern California amongst her grandmother’s huge roses, Lennie’s grief makes it impossible for her to compose. However, things start taking a turn when she starts falling in love with Joe Fontane, the new guy at school.

Cast
The film stars Grace Kaufman in the lead role of Lennie, Jacques Colimon, Picking Alexander, Julia Schlaeper, Cherry Jonas, Ji-young Yoo Jason Segal and Havan Rose Liu. The movie is produced by the Little Woman producer Denise Di Novi and Margaret French Issac of Stepmom fame.
The movie was made under the banner of Di Novi Pictures. Josephine Decker directs the movie. Minari fame Nelson and Joshua Bachov share the role of executive producers role in the movie.
Production
The cast and crew began filming the movie in October of 2022 and could wrap it up within 7 weeks. Most of the shootings occurred in the high school corridors and Rose Gardens of Eureka, California. The place is famous for its large mansions of the Victorian period and the Sequoia Park, where some outdoor shots were captured.
The locals were delighted with the shooting taking place, which also brought up the local revenue, many of whom also acted as extras to the movie. The locals also took care of the lodging and the fooding of the entire cast as they worked amidst the Covid, following all the safety protocols.
