After Money Heist and Cable Girls, Toy Boy was another Spanish TV series that made its way into the heart of many Netflix watchers. Atresmedia produced Toy Boy Season 1 and 2, and it first premiered in September 2019. Toy Boy is as steamy as it is mysterious and is the story of a group of male strippers who live in Marbella, Spain, and cater to the needs of the uber-rich.

The crime drama was not as well-received on cable TV as on Netflix. In fact, it even reached the Top 10 list of Netflix in many countries. The first season of the series ended with one big cliffhanger and made way for the Toy Boy Season 2. Toy Boy Season 2 was released later and was also well-received. Toy Boy collectively has an IMDb rating of 6.4 out of 10.

Toy Boy follows the story of 4 male strippers who work for the wealthy living in the coastal city of Marbella, Spain. They have named themselves “Toy Boys,” which denotes male lovers much younger than their female partners. Each of the male strippers has their own story, but the show’s story is about Hugo Beltrán.

Once as rich as the women he serves, Hugo was wrongly accused of the murder of his lover’s husband. He didn’t remember much of the night itself, except for the fact that he partied hard. Nonetheless, Hugo gets convicted of the crime. The story throughout Season 1 is told in a flashback manner at first – the night before the murder of his lover, Macarena Medina’s husband.

He finally gets released when Maria Pedraza takes his pro-bono case. Together, he with his friends from “The Toy Boys” try to find the actual murderer and save Hugo from prison. The show is full of unexpected and shocking twists, starting from the very first episode. Hugo has made even more enemies when Season 2 begins – leaving out all spoilers. The new action takes place in a new strip club. But Hugo’s problems are far from gone.

Toy Boy Season 2: Release Date

Season 1 left the audience which numerous questions and a massive cliffhanger. Before Toy Boy Season 2 came, Atresmedia confirmed that the entire cast would be reprising their roles in the same – and there will be some new characters as well. Jesús Mosquera will play Hugo Beltrán González once again, while Cristina Castaño will be reprising her role as the ex-lover, Macarena Medina de Solís. María Pedraza will continue as Triana Marín.

There would be two new roles played by Lex González and Federica Sabatini. In addition, Enrique Arce from Money Heist, PacoMarn, Toni Zenit, and Juan Betancourt will also be making an appearance. Other cast members include Alex Gadea, Pedro Casablanc, Maria Pujalte, Carlos Scholz, Nia Castro, Juanjo Almeida, RaudelMartiato, and Carlo Costanzia, etc.

Is Toy Boy Worth Watching?

Although the trailer may make it seem like the show is nothing more than sexual innuendos, real sex scenes, and naked male strippers, the Spanish show Toy Boy shares many things in common with Money Heist and Élite. By that, we mean murder, mystery, and intrigue. In addition to that, the cinematography of the beautiful and scenic places on the coast of Spain would make you want to start planning a trip as soon as possible.

But at the same time, the sex appeal of the show is impossible to ignore. Jesús Mosquera’s body would get any straight woman drooling all over the couch. The series is full of eye candy. If you liked How to Get Away with Murder, then this show should be on your list.
