The critically acclaimed action thriller movie, V for Vendetta, is one of the most politically pertinent and thematically enriched movies. Set against a futuristic backdrop that features a totalitarian Britain, a very shadowy freedom fighter plans to overthrow tyranny. The movie had received its release in the US on March 17, 2006. Against a budget of $54 million, it went ahead to a box office collection of $133 million.

V for Vendetta adapts its premise from David Lloyd and Alan Moore’s limited DC Comics series, first released in 1988. It is a directorial debut by James McTeigue and features a screenplay by The Wachowskis. If you are planning on watching the movie V for Vendetta, here are a few details.

The membership to HBO Max starts at $9.99. It is, however, not available on various streaming platforms such as Hulu, Disney Plus, and Amazon Prime Video. You can also choose to stream the movie for free on Plex. It is also available on VUDU, Google Play, and iTunes at an additional cost.

What Is The Plot About?

Following the events after the world war, it has left the entire place in utter turmoil. The aftermath of war and the spread of an epidemic has fractured the entire state. The state tyranny in London is compromising its politico-social stance. To fight against the fascist government, a shadowy fighter and a vigilante masks himself as V to fight against the oppressive powers. He starts to encourage people into an uprising against the Parliament.

A young woman named Evey is saved by the masked man ‘V’ as she is caught by the secret police. As the film is engulfed within an atmosphere of a dystopic nightmare, totalitarianism, and corruption, V finds a supportive ally in Evey as they now team up to fight against oppression. Playing on pertinent themes and shedding light on a critical and relevant premise, V for Vendetta is a must-watch movie.

Who Is In The Cast Of V For Vendetta?

In the lead role of the young woman Evey Hammond, the cast stars Natalie Portman. The masked anarchist, V, is played by Hugo Weaving. He is joined by Stephen Rea, who plays the role of Eric Finch. The role of Gordon Deitrich is played by Stephen Fry and Adam Sutler by John Hurt. Peter Creedy is played by Tim Pigott Smith and Dominic Stone by Rupert Graves. Lewis Prothero is played by Roger Allam, and Roger Dascombe by Ben Miles.

V for Vendetta has a spectacularly high IMDb score of 8.1/10 and 73% Rotten Tomatoes ratings. The cast members acting has received praises, with Natalie Portman winning various awards for her role. With stunning visuals, powerful acting, and a strong plot, V for Vendetta is a must-watch. It is definitely a thought-provoking film, with impressive set pieces that will not fail to entertain you.
