Wednesday is an upcoming horror-comedy series on Netflix. It also delves into the genres like fantasy, family, and suspense. The creators of the series are Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Tim Burton is one of the executive producers. It will be a coming-of-age story about Wednesday, a much beloved and badass character from the Addams family.
This supernatural mystery series would focus mainly on Wednesday, but it would have other characters from the Addams Family. It would be an 8 episode long series with sleuthing, horror and comedy in the true Addams family style.
Addams Family
The Addams Family is a fictional family and characters. They were first introduced as single-panel cartoons in the newspaper, The New Yorker in 1938. Since then, there have been multiple, and I mean so many, movies, series, video games, musicals, merchandising and even comic books of these eccentric and fun characters. Both animated and live-action movies and TV shows about Addams Family and funnily all under the same name.
The family consists of the patriarch and the matriarch of the family, Gomez Addams and Morticia Addams, their two kids, Wednesday and Pugsley Addams, Wednesday’s pet octopus, Aristotle, along with their uncle Fester and their Grandmama, and how can we forget their butler, Lurch and of course the ‘Thing’. Along with this original family, we were later introduced to Gomez’s cousin Itt and Pubert Addams, Gomez and Morticia’s youngest son.
When Will Wednesday Premiers?
The shooting for the Wednesday series started around September 2021 and concluded in March 2022. The show will be released in 2022, the latter part of the year, between October and November.
About Wednesday
Wednesday has always been a quirky, downright homicidal character who is as goth as a person can get, especially in the early times. She is a sociopath who makes sense since she is a part of the Addams Family. However, she is more of a sadist and not a masochist like her brother Pugsley. She is a very smart and intelligent person who understands emotions even if she doesn’t feel them.
Wednesday always wears a simple black dress with white collars and has silky sleek raven hair, which she always keeps parted in the middle and neatly plaited. She has a permanent poker face and a monotonous delivery, whether happy or angry or homicidal, which she often does. She has weird relationships and dynamics with people around her.
In the 2022 rendition of the Wednesday, it’s her story and journey of studying in the Nevermore Academy. The high schooler is trying to master her psychic abilities and do some good old sleuthing related to the killing spree in the town while also dealing with new people and high school experience. The ‘Thing’ that finally conjured itself a hand can also be seen in the teasers and promos.
Cast Of The Series
All of the cast of the series is announced, which includes Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones will play Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay, Riki Lindhome will portray Dr Valerie Kinbott, Jamie McShane as Sheriff Donovan Galpin, Thora Birch as Tamara Novak, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, George Burcea as Lurch. Christina Ricci has also been credited for all eight episodes, but her character is yet to be revealed. She played the most iconic Wednesday in the 1991 and 1993 movies of the Addams Family.
