Paul King has written a screenplay with Simon Farnaby for the upcoming musical fantasy film Wonka. The film interprets Roald Dahl’s 1964 classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with Timothée Chalamet as the protagonist, whose life as an eccentric chocolatier is portrayed in the film. This film is about young Willy Wonka before he opens his famous chocolate factory based on characters created by Roald Dahl.
The story of Willy Wonka’s upbringing will be told how he grew up before Charlie, before his golden tickets, and before the magical factory filled with sweets and surprises. A script by Simon Farnaby will be adapted for the screen by Paul King. Michael Siegel and Alexandra Derbyshire will work together as the executive producers, while David Heyman and Luke Kelly will produce the movie. Gene Wilder portrayed the role of Wonka in 1971, an adapted version of the book.
Wonka will be Timmy’s third telling of the story of Willy Wonka, following Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in 2005. If you’re filling the shoes of Johnny Depp, Timmy, you have some big ones, But the fans have full faith in him.
Cast of Wonka
As the iconic chocolate maker and inventor in Warner Bros and Roald Dahl’s Wonka, Timothée Chalamet is poised to get immersed in a world of pure imagination. Several musical numbers will appear in Wonka, according to Deadline sources. It will be Chalamet’s first opportunity to demonstrate his singing and dancing talents on the big screen. As part of these preparations, he must be trained for those numbers, which was a scheduling obstacle.
Along with the central character, has recently added funnyman Keegan-Michael Key to the cast. Key has not yet been assigned a character. In the story, Willy Wonka shows his character as a young man when he first meets his Oompa Loompas. There have been no further casting announcements so far.
Definitely, best known for making and starring in the comedy central funny opera Key and Peele, Key is a humorist and actor. In addition to his usual role as a funny man, Key has explored other parts that are a little bit more challenging. All The Bright Places was Key’s last film.
Release Date of the Film
A Willy Wonka prequel film has just been announced. Little information has been released. Warner Bros. may be planning to wrap casting this spring based on the release of the press release. The film is being rushed to production in an effort to see it through as soon as possible.
There may be quite some time until we get more details about Willy Wonka since it is currently slated for a 2023 release date. The date is set to be 17th March for the same. The only information we currently know besides the two cast announcements is that Wonka will be the first installment of the new Roald Dahl Cinematic Universe, so audience members should expect their childhood favorites to come alive in all-new ways they could never have imagined.
Although that may seem far in the future, given the project’s present stage of production and the ongoing concerns about COVID-19 and how it will impact the film and television industries, March of 2023 still seems achievable. Still, it is indeed time to take a trip down memory lane.
What will the Willy Wonka Prequel be About?
The casting decision for the next Wonka film may well depend on which version of the film it is a prequel to if you’ve seen both Gene Wilder’s and Johnny Depp’s versions of Willy Wonka. Considering the whimsical nature of Depp and Burton’s Willy Wonka prequel, Chalamet makes perfect sense. He is not only a talented actor capable of developing such weird pathos but an approximate Depp look-alike.
Prequelizing, the musically inclined Wonka of Wilder, makes a lot more sense. Not only does he have the looks, but he’s also proven he has the skill set to handle the song and dance aspects that accompany such a Wonka.
So far, we know little about the film, besides the fact that the prequel will chronicle Willy Wonka’s early life before he became a confectionery icon and sweet recluse. Burton’s 2005 film probably didn’t feature a dentist father like in Burton’s early days. The casting notice for Chalamet in the lead role may tell us a lot about what Wonka the film will be about, assuming Warner Bros. releases casting notices prior to detailing the plot.
