Joe Goldberg is returning with a new 4th season of Netflix’s series You. The thriller follows Joe Goldberg, a bookstore manager. He falls in love with an aspiring writer named Guinevere Beck. The very romantic and cliched trope of romance. However, this story has a deadly turn. The awkward crush soon becomes dangerous as Joe starts obsessing over Beck.

He uses the internet and social media as his tools to stalk her, going far as killing the people who might become an obstacle for him to get her. Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble were the developers of the psychological thriller series for Lifetime. The thriller has been adapted from the books by Caroline Kepnes. Netflix later acquired the series from Lifetime.

On September 9, 2018, the first season was released on Lifetime. Despite being a thriller dealing with psychopathy, the series is quite popular among viewers. The show has a current rating of 7.7 on IMDb with an approval of 91 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Additionally, the series has had a total of 7 nominations and 2 wins, including Top 100 Popular Television (2019-2020) by ReFrame Stamp in 2020.

The Joe Goldberg apologists can rejoice! The streaming platform Netflix has notified about a new 4th season even before the 3rd season hit the internet. Netflix, through Twitter, on October 13, 2021, has announced that the series has been renewed for a new season. However, the upcoming season will not be released this year.

Netflix has only announced the series renewal, not the release date, and no information has been leaked about the release yet. The season has yet to start the filming. However, sources claim that the filming will start soon. It is thoroughly speculated that the number of episodes will remain 10 same as the previous seasons. And by making some rough calculations, the filming will take around 6 months, keeping the pandemic in our minds too.

The new season will likely release in early 2023, which might belong to the fans, but the wait is not unheard of. And before any filming updates, Netflix will also be announcing the casting news. With Joe now in France, it brings new possibilities for him. And maybe have a interaction with Emily in Paris universe? A writer can only dream!

What to Know Before Watching You Season 4?

In the first season, Joe Goldberg is a simple New Yorker who manages a bookstore. He meets with an aspiring writer, Guinevere Beck, and is obsessed with her. He utilizes the internet and social media to feed on that obsession. Unfortunately, he only has Beck on his mind and kills everyone and anyone who becomes an obstacle for him in getting her. Spoiler alert! Eventually, he also kills Beck at the end.

In the second season, Joe moves to the south in LA from New York to escape what he has done. He starts his life fresh with a new identity. He meets Love Quinn, who is a chef. After meeting her, he falls back into his old pattern of stalking and obsession. He attempts to form a new romantic relationship with Love to work and succeed. And success was on his way, as he marries her at the end.

The third season opens up in the very domestic Goldberg household, and any outsider will not suspect that two psychopaths are living together. They are raising their newborn, Henry, in California. The suburb of Madre Linda becomes the home to the two violent people. But old habits are hard to die.

Joe starts with the obsession cycle again, taking an interest in Natalie. However, Love reacts in the most violent ways. She flips to her violent tendencies, which result in Joe killing her and leaving for France.
