Who doesn’t love a good romance between two beautiful people? Ennis and Elsa form a lovable pair. But before we talk about the fate of their relationship, let’s look at the series in itself. Being a prequel to ‘Yellowstone,’ ‘1883’ is a series set in the backdrop of Texas. The Dutton family flees poverty and fight battles to seek a better life.
The series may be fictional, but it’s definitely safe claiming that the events are inspired by true-to-life stories which occurred during the 17th century. So it’s certain to say that these are fictionalized scenes of actual historical figures and events.
Ennis, A Cowboy
Coming back to our point of discussion, let’s look into Ennis and Elsa in detail, throwing light on their relationship and its fate of it. With ‘1883’ already introducing interesting characters which propel the way forward to an amazing genre, we see Ennis’ entry as a cowboy for hire. He’s one of the members present in the caravan led by Shea Brennan.
Hailing as a localite from Fort Worth, Texas, he is hired as an aid to the journey. Talking about his character, he is carefree yet skilled in practice. It is during one of these adventures that he meets Elsa, James Dutton’s daughter.
Elsa, An Elite Daughter
It’s time we talk about Elsa. As already mentioned, Elsa is the daughter of James Dutton, who is the protagonist of the series. Ennis quickly acquaints himself with her in their very first meeting, which takes place in the second episode. Both feel butterflies in their stomach but don’t let it out just yet.
Their flirty conversation leads to Elsa’s mother noticing them in the next episode. It quickly is brought to the notice of Elsa’s parents, and approval is obtained on Ennis courting their daughter.

With everything sailing as smooth as a ship on still waters, viewers are intrigued to know the fate of their relationship. For what is a ‘drama’ without all the drama surrounding a safe love story? Just when we settle our hearts for a good ending on a relationship, we see Ennis being warned by John regarding their relationship.
This kind of foreshadows that something definitely smells fishy. Bonds are tested when Elsa’s life is threatened by a mob attack en route. Doom impels as we see a fairytale turn into a disaster. But what is love without all the walls and bridges? History has never recorded a love story with a smooth beginning and a smoother end.
