The upcoming teenage romance “Heartstopper” is all set to come and entertain us on Netflix. This series is based on Alice Oseman’s novel that initially started as a webcomic. It was released on Tumblr and Tapas and was a hit among the viewers. The storyline centered around LGBTQ+ and British teenagers’ love stories.
The name of the novel on which the series is based is “Solitaire”. After the hit of the webcomic, the writer has successfully published 3 book volumes. The 4th one is about to release anytime soon.
The show is directed by Euros Lyn, who is an award-winning director. He is also famous for his work on shows like Daredevil, Doctor Who, and Sherlock.
Release Date of Show
Initially, Netflix planned to turn the novel into a love web series in January 2022 and reveal the cast and other details in April 2022. But, the date of release of the show is still a topic of dilemma. The creators are yet to confirm. The only thing which got its confirmation from the side of the creators is that the series will have about 8 and a half episodes. The shooting of the show is going on. The show can release anytime in 2022. As the show is released on the Netflix platform, the episodes will be delivered to viewers in all bingable formats, like other shows.
The Cast of the Show
The casting directors were very choosy in finding the right fit for the characters but finally found the right characters specified in the novel. According to sources, about 10,000 people were auditioned for the cast and the characters who were picked mostly were the new faces on the screen.
Charlie is playing the role of the protagonist of the show, Joe Locke. Other side roles include, William Gao as Tao, Yasmin Finney as Elle who is a 17-year- old trans boy, Tobie Donovan will play the new character, Sebastian Croft from Game of Thrones, Corinna Brown as Tara, Kizzy Edgell as Darcy, and Cormac Hyde- Corrin as Harry. There will be many other supporting and recurring characters as well in the series.
The Plot of the Show
The series will show the love story of 2 schoolboys, who study at British Grammar School. The show will showcase the beautiful storyline of love and friendship, and also the complications gay- love might create for the youngsters. The first season will consist total of eight episodes, with an expected duration of 30 minutes.
