A production of A.C.G.T Studio, Orient is the anime adaptation of Shinobu Ohtaka’s manga of the same name. The first episode of the series aired in January. The series has since garnered a lot of attention despite opening up to mixed reviews. The premise transports us to a world of demons and heroes- more specifically, a world run by demons, and one righteous boy who wants to do good for his people.
Musashi the young boy is aware of the one damning truth of their world- humanity has been enslaved by the demons who parade around as their saviors. After many trials, both social and humanitarian, the boy embarks on a rather perilous journey to do good for the world- to form his own clan of warriors to fight the evil torturers of humankind.
When Are Episodes 11 And 12 Scheduled to Release?
Episode 11, the second last episode of the season, was scheduled to release on the 16th of March- while the 12th episode was to be released a week later, on the 23rd. However things didn’t pan out as intended, and the 11th Episode did not release on the 16th. While global audiences may still be wondering what went wrong, Japanese viewers would not be very surprised that the decision to halt streaming internationally, was taken.
Why Did the Episode Not Air?
On the 16th of March, 2022, an earthquake of magnitude 7.4 was traced right off of the Fukushima coast. With four deaths and two hundred and twenty people injured, the quake that occurred at 11:36 p.m. in Japan seemed an aftereffect of the even graver earthquake that occurred on the eleventh of March that resulted in over 15,000 overall deaths.
It was owing to this earthquake that the eleventh episode of Orient did not air on the day that it was supposed to. A strange occurrence, however, was the Crunchyroll stream of Orient, episode 11, despite the show not finding its way into Japanese TV at that point- a little while later, the stream was stopped, and a message that thanked the audience for understanding that the show could not be aired because of the disastrous earthquake in Japan was put up.
What Happened On March 23rd?
On Saturday, the official social media handles of Orient confirmed that the 23rd of March would see a back-to-back screening of both episodes.
The 11th episode streamed on the TV Tokyo Channel at 24:00 going into the 24th of March. While the 12th picked off from 24:30. The episodes then aired on AT-X on the 24th of March at 9 and 9:30 p.m. respectively.
The episodes dealt with Musashi learning about his new powers, and exploring his capabilities. The final episode, “Where This Road Leads” left us with many open-ended questions. We hope to get answeres in the second season. The completion of the Daito Mine arc marked the end of the first season.
Where To Watch the Whole Season?
Crunchyroll has been streaming every Orient episode on a weekly basis. English dubs and subs are available. To watch the last two episodes, however, one will have to wait till the 3rd of April, before they hit the Crunchyroll platform. So, will you be tuning in to watch or re-watch the Anime? And will you be waiting for the second season to release in July 2022? Let us know!
