What is Charmed About?
Charmed is an American television series created by Constance M. Burge which aired from October 7th, 1998 till May 21st, 2006. The story follows three powerful witch sisters who are also known as “The Charmed Ones” to the supernatural community they were a part of and to the common people as Halliwells.
With each sister having unique powers which keep on developing and enhancing as they grow up, they use these powers to fight powerful demons, warlocks, and other powerful enemies they encounter in San Francisco, California to protect the innocent and their loved ones.
The reboot series of Charmed streamed first on May 11, 2018. Its reboot series was set in the college town of Hilltown, Michigan. With the rebooted series following almost the same story, some of its aspects had changed.
Jennie Snyder Urman basically changed the physical and mental states of the original three sisters making most of their traits different from the ones in the original Charmed series which ended in 2006. The reboot series did not do as well as was expected.
What do the Critics Have to Say?
“Charmed” is an amazing television series by itself. Many people believe that it was not necessary to bring a rebooted version of the story. With the bond of the sisters in the first series which made its viewers interested, the rebooted series could not hold up to it.
Even with the original Charmed having its flaws, the show was still enjoyable. The reason was it was new and the characters really invited the viewers to stay and watch more of it. The cast has been perfectly picked out for the show making it even better.
As per the show’s critics, the bonds, story, and development of the story are better in the original series than the new one. The series has 7.2 IMDb ratings.
Stream it or Skip it?
With the “Charmed” series being one of the longest-running shows with all-female leads, the show did really well surpassing other shows like Laverne &Shirley. With its season finale pulling its highest ever viewers of 4.49 million, the show really showed that it’s worth watching.
For people considering watching the rebooted version, they can go ahead, but with the reviews. It’s better not to have high expectations overall. It is not bad but, could not catch up and hold the same expectations as the first series.
