What is the Documentary Controlling Britney Spears About?
The New York Times’ latest documentary on Britney Spears skewers and probes deeper into the conservatorship that encircles Britney Spears. It includes various interviews with multiple insiders that convey firsthand details about the manner in which the conservatorship sanctioned by the court has essentially controlled every aspect of Britney’s life.
For the first time, the key insiders have come ahead to relay information that will help the audience to understand the workings of the conservatorship, mostly led by her father. It had stripped her of most of her personal rights. This surveillance apparatus kept track of her every move. The inner-circle that is closely associated with Britney’s legal conservatorship gives way to various intimate details so that the public can understand its dynamics.
The documentary will detail The Times Friday’s confidential report that reveals the 2016 dialogue between the court investigator and Spears. Spears speaks out to convey that the conservatorship was a very controlling and oppressive tool that was undermining her life. In the June court session, it was Britney’s first public encounter in which she revealed how the conservatorship was threatening her life. The abusive nature of the conservatorship system is questioned in the documentary, and its working dynamic is explored.
According to the conservatorship terms since 2008, Jamie Spears, Britney’s father, is the sole conservator of her estate, and controls her finances, and is also responsible for her as a person. Now Spears, presently 39 years old, publically advocates to release herself from the shackles of the conservatorship that has been largely abusive. The next court hearing will take place on Wednesday, September 29, to remove her father from his role in the conservatorship, and James’ petition “expeditiously” terminate the conservatorship.
How the conservatorship works have not really been understood by the public yet. The documentary offers various crucial insights through insiders to help you understand how it has curbed the rights and interests of the pop star. You can catch with the documentary, Controlling Britney Spears on Hulu.
I saw the Framing and Controlling of Britney Spears. I’m a 51 year old mother and grandmother . This woman has been exploited since she was a young girl. She is vulnerable but at the same time so strong. It’s easy to assign labels of disability when she’s been set up by those tasked with looking out for her well being. Her father is a puppet to the corporate influence . You put a fractured man in charge who has his own demons and those who are influential preyed upon his simplicity ignorance and less than stable overall well being. Those in this business and the those appointed by the courts to act in her best interest have failed miserably. I think anyone under this pressure may look like they have mental illness but it seems that was an intention to continue to cash in. One of my dreams is to see her perform but the desire is small when thinking of what she deserves. Her phone call and correspondence with the court and her attorney speaks to a smart hard working desperate woman who is entitled to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness as outlined by the constitution. I hope she sues those who cashed in on her art and hard work. I pray that she finds independence and peace. She may need some assistance but who doesn’t. I’m sick by the treatment of a woman who experienced such grave injustices by those expected to protect her. I think they saw her dad as a puppet. She deserves so much better and I pray justice is served starting with removing her father and then suing those who punished her through control to become richer. I hope she sues them and recoups her money and lives her life exactly how she wants. I really pray she has the right to do so. Best of luck Britney- prayers coming your way. I would love to see you perform but taking care of you is more important. You are entitled to basic human rights and the opportunity set out for all. Enough people.
