Netflix and Dark Horse Entertainment have already had marvelous projects together, including hit series like ‘The Umbrella Academy,’ an adaptation of a comic by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá. Besides this, the famous thriller named ‘Polar,’ which was taken as an influence from the graphic novel by Victor Santos is also the result of their collaboration.
Now, to everyone’s belief, we have Netflix and Dark Horse Entertainment together for their new project named Grendel, a show on Netflix. It is based on one of the comic series, and the company itself announced that it might hit the screens as soon as possible.
Grendel’s Storyline
Grendel is a series formed on the Dark Horse supernatural crime comic which is from the creator Matt Wagner. Wagner had started with it in 1982 and has brought forward the new Grendel stories ever since. The story moves forward in a manner where we see the Hunter Rose, who is Grendel, an assassin who enters New York City’s criminal underworld just to avenge the death of his lost love but who knows that he might get entangled in it.
And as time passes, he will eventually evolve into something disparate where Grendel becomes a character who is like a spirit possessing many different people. In this world, humans coexist with super-powered creatures and Grendel. On the other hand, one follows two detectives; one is human, and the other one, a demo. It will take their journey to investigate murders which will gradually open up many unknown dark secrets.
What Else About Grendel Including the Release Date
Grendel as a show was announced recently, so it might take a long time before the first season consisting of eight episodes will hit the Netflix screens. By looking strategically, the time span between the official announcement and release date of ‘The Umbrella Academy’ was of around two years. As the announcement was made in July 2017 and the release was followed up in February 2019.
So in the case of “Grendel,” we can expect the same timeline when the movie might hit the Netflix screens in about a year and a half, which will be around spring 2023.

The ‘Grendel’ series is written and executive-produced by none other than Andrew Dabb. Besides this, we have a pretty great cast, including Madeline Zima as Liz Sparks, Emma Ho as Stacy Palumbo, Julian Black Antelope as Argent, Kevin Corrigan as Barry Palumbo, and Jaime Ray Newman as Jocasta Rose.
