Summer I Turned Pretty premiered on Amazon Prime Video on June 17, 2022, and there’s no doubt the cast’s new faces drew admirers to their Instagram profiles right away. Jeremiah, the ultra-flirty younger Fisher sibling who likewise has his sights set on Belly/would very much like to be included in the narrative and is played by Gavin Casalegno, is one such face. There’s a lot to Jeremiah as a character, from his love interests to how he learns of his mother’s health issue.

Jeremiah

let’s go right into the story as the following content have spoilers, those who haven’t watched “Summer I Turned Pretty” be discreet , still you are curious then continue reading.

Is Jeremiah gay in the books?

No, character Jeremiah is not gay in the books but in the TV rendition of “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” Jeremiah Fisher plays both homosexual and heterosexual characters. In the narrative, Jeremiah is presented as a cheerful and charming individual. He, like his brother Conrad, does not conceal his feelings and frequently expresses them freely. He’s also really attractive, and he can make anyone fall for him.

His on-screen shenanigans are a true reflection of his personality. In the novel, for example, his name is solely associated with female characters, however in the program, he is more open-minded. When Jeremiah and Steven are recruited to work at a summer club, he admits for the first time that he has affections for both sexes.

Several males and females are named as he tells Steven about the individuals he’s had sex with. The next time we see him, he’s at a party, where he flirts with a guy and they end up kissing. Because they do not represent this type of interplay in the text, this metamorphosis occurs only in the cinema.

Character analysis of the character Jeremiah Fisher

Jeremiah Fisher, popularly known as “Jere,” is a character in the series The Summer. He’s Susannah and Adam Fisher’s youngest son. He is also a close friend to Belly and a caring brother to Conrad, and he even stands aside when Conrad pursues Belly, even though he is only now realizing his own affections for her.

Regardless, he finally tries of suppressing his love for Belly and of witnessing Conrad continuously injure her. This all comes to a climax in It’s Not Summer Without You, when he kisses her in his car, finally expressing his affections to her, only to be walked in on by Conrad. Conrad, on the other hand, lies by assuring Jeremiah that he is over his love for Belly and encourages him to pursue her, which he does.

Personality of Jeremiah Fisher

Jeremiah has a loud and outspoken personality and is never hesitant to speak his views. He is sometimes considered to be Conrad’s polar opposite, as he is more calm and silent. He adored his mother Susannah and was not hesitant to express his feelings for her by holding her hand, even though he was officially too old.

Throughout the first novel, he was especially angry at Conrad for making their mother worry during the summer, knowing it was likely her final one with them and wanting to make it perfect for her. Jeremiah was highly liked by everyone he knew and was very social with everyone he encountered, which made him famous among the girls.

Why the story had to be changed from the book to the movie?

Author Jenny Han discussed why the tale had to be adjusted from the book to the film in an interview with Variety. “Bringing the work up to date for current readers” was the goal. The writers were able to include sections that were pertinent to the present by repeating the event over a decade and a half later.

“The character’s essence remains the same to me,” Han added. “It’s simply that I’m not sure how I’d write about this guy in 2022 compared to 13 years ago.”

Always finding my comfort in series and movies since ninth grade, occasionally I binge watch my favorite series in a single night. Language has never been a barrier for me. Being an old style, I can only express my words by writing it down, don't know any other way to do it :) Exploring and still learning.
