In the previous episode, “The Gambit of the Tangled Souls,” the viewers see Nancy and George looking for clues in hopes of finding Hannah’s reason for releasing the supernatural killer. They find a lock as evidence which they give to Nick for further investigation. They had to rush to Bertam’s before the police takes things away. Thus, halting their search. After the police have already taken control of the place, Carson comes to the rescue and stops the police by filing a motion.
Carson and Ryan, in trying to help, break-in, but they got affected. Nancy and Ace reach the Bertam’s to retrieve the artifact, but they also have to deal with Carson and Ryan’s ludicrous situation. Ace handles the men; meanwhile, Nancy gets the artefact to Bess. However, the artefact is revealed to be a copy of the original one. In the end, everything seems to work out, but everyone is surprised by the knowledge that Nick has left.
