The Orville is an American sci-fi comedy-drama series. The show follows Ed Mercer, played by Seth MacFarlane, an officer in the exploratory space vessels of the Planetary Union. The show takes a lot of its inspiration from Star Trek and its successor, which it heavily parodies and also pays homage to. We’re taken around with the crew of the USS Orville on their adventures. Orville is produced by Fuzzy Door Productions and 20th Television. With Season 3 episode 1 has come out recently, and episode 2 being announced, here’s all we know as of now.
Release Time for The Orville Season 3 Episode 2
Season 3 Episode 2 will air on June 9th 2022, at midnight PT. Other shows also drop at this time, so it’s synchronous with them.
Plot Speculations
The Episode titled “Shadow Realms” doesn’t have much of a leak on the plot. But Seth MacFarlane did announce on Twitter that we should watch the show with the lights off for maximum effect. If we take his words literally, there is a chance we’ll go through a lot of physically dark times with Orville. The lights off will help darker hues shine. There is most likely a story told in full or partly in darkness, which is very intriguing as it will be able to boast up the newer generation of HDR content consumption media.
The Cast for The Orville
The series will cast the lead role as Seth MacFarlane, Adrianne Palicki, Penny Johnson Jerald, Peter Macon, Scott Grimes, J. Lee, Chad L. Coleman, Mark Jackson, Anne Winters and Jessica Szohr. This cast was in the previous seasons and it’s great to have them back. They’re a really good group and the breath of life and something to look forward to for this show.
How many episodes will Season 3 have?
Season 3 of The Orville, called New Horizons, is expected to have 10 episodes in total. This subtly hints to us that there are a lot of stories left for them to narrate to us and we’ll not be dry on content. Just like Seasons 1 and 2, we will experience a new adventure with the Orville every episode, tying back to the previous one in some form or the other.
New Episode release schedule
We should have an episode every Thursday. So with episode 1 airing on June 2nd and episode 2 set for June 9th, here’s the schedule for the other eight episodes. Episode 3: 16th June, Episode 4: 23rd June, Episode 5: 30th June, Episode 6: 7th July, Episode 7: 14th July, Episode 8: 21st July, Episode 9: 28th July, Episode 10: 4th August.
As you can see, we have almost two months of the show left for us to enjoy. This is only a likely schedule, assuming we have episodes every week without much of a hitch in production.
Where to Watch?
The Orville will be available to stream on Hulu in the USA. In other countries, it might also come out to Disney+ since that’s where we got the first episode. Keep an eye out on June 9th for the new episode of The Orville: New Horizons.
