Born to an English mother and Malaysian father, Philip Nathaniel Sin Goi Wang was brought up in Malaysia and took up engineering, which he completed from King’s College, Cambridge. Today Phil Wang is an established comedian. He was seen in ‘8 out of 10 cats does countdown’, ‘Have I got news for you, ‘The British Bake Off: An extra slice’ etc. Apart from being a comedian, he’s also an actor, but he writes and produces.
He has also worked with BBC and being a judge for Great British menu food, and we know that he’s more than merely talented. His Instagram is flooded with pictures stating his interest in cooking, and hence it justifies his role as a judge here.
Worth Watching or Not?
Well, this isn’t a career started of the blue. Stand-up comedians are covering topics that wouldn’t be addressed in public otherwise. Because to make a joke out of something requires complete knowledge and facts about the topic right from the start. And with all those higher education, you can trust the content because most of the audience in front of you aren’t just laughing it off but are agreeing with it, and the irony is visible. Certain things are so out of hand that the only way out is to accept them and move on with them.
It is more acceptable to acknowledge that the stern face won’t do any work, and denying the fact won’t be mature enough either. Hence, why not just laugh and get over it. Some topics are just too sensitive to cover, and it’s an absolute art to put together those words, frame a sentence and add that sense of humor to make it seem just a little relaxed or light. And here’s the fact about selling your humor, not every individual will seem to like it or appreciate your point of view, and that’s an add-on to your critic view list.
Making it to the top isn’t an easy job, and without criticism, you aren’t going anywhere. You need to know what the audience accepts and what it rejects. What harms their sentiments, and what makes them delighted. Phil converted his name to Phil Wang and covers some rarely touched topics or rather sensitively touched topics such as sex, politics, romance and his British- Malaysian heritage. By far, it seems exciting, so it is worth watching!
Is there Any Sequel to it?
Presently, no. Phil is the first comedian from the UK to have his tape-recorded and released. That too on a huge platform. Netflix is presently the most popular platform, and having Phil here is just more than a surprise.
Hence, we hope it turns out to be as good as his sense of humor and hands-on cooking. But most importantly, we’re hoping that his message is portrayed in his performance.
