The servant is an American horror TV show, which is Tony Basgallon. The show tells the story of Sean Turner and his wife, Dorothy, from Philadelphia. They have a son named Jericho and hire a nanny Leanne for him. The story follows the strange events and scary things in their house after Leanne arrives. The show is exclusively produced for Apple TV+ and the first Season aired in November 2019.

Due to the positive reviews by critics and audiences alike, the show came back for a second season on January 15, 2021. Even before Season 2 of the Servant was released, Apple TV renewed the show for a third season, which premiered recently in January of 2022. The show will have one more season, as the creators announced in December of 2021.

Sean and Dorothy are quite rich and had a happy married life for a while. Until that is, their son Jericho died when he was only a couple of weeks old. Dorothy is not stable after his death and hence needs therapy. As a means of therapy, she receives a human-like doll, which she claims is Jericho reborn. This doll is the only thing that made her more normal after Jericho’s death.

And then comes the mysterious and young nanny, Leanne, whose arrival sets in motion even more paranormal events.

In the first season of Servant, we slowly learned about the doll. Why did they need the doll in the first place? Because Sean and Dorothy’s 13-week old son died in a car crash. And this doll, the therapists think – will help Dorothy, who is in a terrible state psychologically, recover. Dorothy then gets Leanne Grayson to be their family nanny. Hence the farce is built.

To Sean’s great surprise, Leanne doesn’t ask any questions about the doll and treats it just like Dorothy does, as if it is accurate. And somehow, in the course of the series, the doll becomes real. Things become even more complicated when Leanne learns what happened to the actual baby Jericho while under his mother’s eyes.

For the first two seasons, Leanne remains a very mysterious character. No one can presume whether she is trying to help or harm the Turners. By the end of season 2, we are told about Leanne’s reality – but for spoiler’s sake, we will keep it at that.

Servant: Season 3– Episode 4 Recap

The story gets more intense, with the addition of the horrifying element of cults. With the trailer, we see many possible hints about what might happen in Season 3. Suffice it to say that the story development up until now is slow-burn. If you haven’t watched the show until now, stop reading, for there are only spoilers ahead.

Episode 4 opens up with a close shot of Leanne observing some people outside. She is absolutely against Dorothy’s idea of going outside, but Dorothy forces her to put some gym clothes on, and they do a workout. Sean and Dorothy appoint a child-safety specialist for Jericho’s safety, and we meet Tobe’s new girlfriend, Sylvia.

Sylvia is a bit over-enthusiastic and is not subtle that he wants to work for Sean. Her behavior irritates Sean. Sean is not the only person who dislikes Sylvia, Leanne, is not too taken with her presence. Leanne doesn’t like seeing people inside their house who are not a part of the family.

Sean is behind his schedule, and Sylvia suddenly comes running in and calling Tobe names. When the child safety specialist makes comments about her, she gets miserable and asks the dead aunt Josephine if it is her punishment for wearing gym clothes and looking like a wh*re. Moreover, the entire fourth episode feels like a storm brewing – everyone’s running short on tempers, and everybody’s pretty stressed out.

Leanne takes Jericho out of the kitchen, and soon after, Sylvia chops off her finger by mistake. The finger disappears into the sinkhole, but Tobe gets back Sylvia’s ring. Things are also getting harder for Dorothy, who keeps zoning out, and when Julian shows her how her breasts leak through her clothes on live TV, she’s mortified. The episode’s last shot is Leanne wearing Sylvia’s ring and dancing like Dorothy taught her.

Servant: Season 3 – Cast

The newest cast member we see is Sunita Mani, who plays the role of Julian’s girlfriend, Vera.

Supporting cast members include Tony Revolori, playing Tobe, Boris McGiver as Uncle George, Alison Elliot as Aunt May, the Church of Lesser Saints cult leader, and Barbara Sukowa plays the role of Aunt Josephine.

Servant: Season 3 – Is it Worth Watching?

Cults, religion, psychic powers and psychology. M. Night Shyamalan’s work never ceases to amaze a person. Servant, similarly, has everything which Shyamalan has to offer. In fact, Servant has been dubbed as the creepiest show to be present on Apple TV+ at the moment. Every episode has a plot twist that is impossible to predict. The element of intrigue in the show is intense, and it keeps the viewer at the edge of their seat.

Many people have enjoyed the show and how it symbolizes a puzzle. There are still no answers and no explanations about anything, and many viewers think they will not get answers until season 4. This purpose of finding the answers has also increased viewership for Servant three. The narrative is coherent enough, and re-watching, note-taking and paying close attention is rewarding.

In short: if mystery, drama, horror and psychological thriller are your cup of tea, then Servant is the best show you can watch right now.
