Sex Education Season 3 opens with the students enjoying their best time during the summer holidays before beginning a new school year. As mentioned above, Otis and Maeve are not on speaking terms with each other. However, Otis and Ruby are having casual sex but in secret, because the latter is in no mood to acknowledge their relationship.
On the other hand, Maeve is spending quite a lot of time with her neighbor Isaac. But she’s even more worried about her drug-addicted mother. She has decided to apply for an academic program in the United States as she ignores Otis. Moreover, Moordale High has got a new principal, Mrs. Hope Hadden, who is a former student of the school and a vibrant young lady. We also saw Eric and Adam exploring their relationship and trying to take it one step forward.
Everything has changed in Moordale High, and there are shades of gray everywhere you see. Otis and Maeve have no willingness to restart the sex clinic. Meanwhile, Jean tells Jacob that she is pregnant, and they both decide to have that baby. Besides that, Jacob and Ola have moved in with Otis and Jean.
Sex Education Season 3 Ending Explained
Despite all the strict measures implemented at Moordale High, things get out of control. Frustrated and full of rage, Mrs. Hope forces the students to wear demeaning placards at school. She is even more unempathetic towards non-binary students. This leads to a huge gathering at the school with the students’ parents and the investors. Eventually, Mrs. Hope left the school and was last spotted outside an IVF center, attempting to have a baby.
If you think that’s it, you are absolutely wrong. The school investors decide to pull their funding, and there comes the question regarding the fate of Moordale High. On the other hand, Jean goes into labor, where she knows about the complications in her pregnancy. Towards the end of the season, we see that Maeve and Otis are getting along together. However, the caring bond between them is still intact.
Meanwhile, Maeve comes to know that she has been selected for the academic program in the US. The season ends with Maeve leaving Moordale after bidding goodbye to Otis.
A Really Sad Ending
The ending definitely gave us shocking news. Firstly, the investors have decided not to provide any financial support to Moordale High. It was announced in the end that Moordale High would be shut down and eventually sold. Besides that, Jean is facing all those complications while in labor. She might even risk her life while giving birth to her baby. We are actually feeling really bad for Otis, as he is left all alone. The girl he used to love has abandoned him and moved to the United States.
