The American drama series Shadow and Bone is formed on the story from the author Leigh Bardugo’s work in two books of different series – Six of Crows and Shadow and Bone from Grisha trilogy. The show that came out with its first season in April 2021 has been a development project for Netflix by Eric Heisserer and produced by Rand Geiger, Christina Strain, and Thane Watkins. Joining Heisserer and Bardugo are Dan Levine, Shawn Levy, Lee Toland Krieger, Pouya Shahbazian, Dan Cohen, and Josh Barry as the executive producers for the series.
The show comprised of eight episodes and focused on the story of a parentless girl named Alina Starkov. In the show, she realizes her hidden power that bears the potential to protect the earth. She is seen to bear the capability to summon the sun and ultimately end the Shadow Fold.
Since its release, the show has garnered immense appreciation for its storyline, cast, and costumes. Seeing the success of season 1, the makers announced the renewal of this fantasy drama in June of 2021. The second season is believed to be the adaptation of Leigh Bardugo’s second book in Grisha’s trilogy Siege and Storm. The upcoming season is also assumed to have a total of eight episodes.

Shadow and Bone Season 2 Expected Plot
In the finale of season 1 of Shadow and Bone, the story showcased the arrest of Matthias by Nina. The latter decided to save the former’s life, but he misunderstands this for her betrayal and regrets his developing feelings for her. Towards the end, the enormous power of Kerrigan was also revealed. He manages to develop a creature that, unlike Volcra, would sustain in daylight as well.
Alina and Mal, along with Nina and Kaz and the gang on the skiff head to Ketterdam. It is supposedly so that Alina could get more knowledge about her powers. To everyone’s sadness, otherwise dead Kirigan is instead shown to be wounded.
The upcoming edition will show more of Ketterdam and light the developing affection between Alina and Mal. It will also mark the stronger comeback of Kirogan, who is way more powerful than anyone imagined him to be, and his terror would grow stronger.
Release of Shadow and Bone Season 2

The first season that launched on our screens in April 2021 is now supposedly planning to launch its subsequent season very soon. Post its renewal announcement this year in June, and fans have been eagerly looking forward to its arrival.
But as of now, no official date has been given by the creators. By looking at the making of season 1 that began with its shooting in 2019 (October) and completed it by March of 2020 and after a year-long wait premiered in April of 2021, it can be assumed that the next season would not reach us any time before the fall of 2022. These are just the predictions, and an official announcement by the makers should be awaited in order to confirm its release.
