The decade-long wait of the Star Wars fans has finally come to an end. All the wait for the grand return of Obi-Wan Kenobi has finally paid off. McGregor returns to repeat his actions in the series named after his famous and widely loved character Obi-Wan Kenobi.
The series is said to have six episodes, where it will track the steps of the incredible Jedi Master, who is forged in the way of the force. The master has also trained Anakin Skywalker, acted out by Hayden Christensen. The plot of the series is set 10 years ahead of the Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith; an unbelievable truth lies in waiting for Obi-Wan Kenobi after an impossible mission, something that would shatter him.
Burgeoning Fame
The series Obi-Wan Kenobi was put on the OTT platform on May 27th, and it broke all the records Disney Plus had in its repertoire for the most-watched premiere of a series. The number of hours it garnered over the weekend, of people streaming it over the website or the app, is amazing.
The new interest sparked a spree where older Star Wars titles were explored, raising their views. One might have missed something. There is always that dark corner left to explore that was previously missed. Star Wars’ original Twitter account didn’t hold back from sending their thanks, calling viewers the best in the galaxy.
What Has Happened So Far?
The story has been unfolded a little in the first three episodes, the OG hype builders, where we see Obi-Wan living a low-profile life while searching for Luke Skywalker (acted by Grant Feely.) A young princess is always bound to be kidnapped sooner or later, which happens with Princess Leia (acted out by Vivien Lyra Blair).
Obi-Wan goes out to save her and must fight the assassins on the journey. He also discovers Anakin Skywalker, who was once believed to have died, is not dead and now has become Darth Vader while serving the emperor.
Why It’s A Hit?
Why, just why, is Obi-Wan garnering so many views and fans in its wake? It does everything a Star Wars series should do, everything that is extremely cool. McGregor is fuelling the feeling of our current generation to survive against all odds; climate change is too real.
From the prequel movies till now, he is dodging his instinctual passions and sharpening his instincts for survival. Not only do the heroes it does well, but also the villains and the Inquisitors are deadly.
Another Hit For Disney+
While three episodes are already out there to watch, the rest of the three are also on their way to further their force into our hearts. There is no doubt that Obi-Wan Kenobi will continue to build the hype it has created so far for the whole Star Wars franchise. Disney Plus will enjoy the cash Obi-Wan Kenobi will milk, whereas other related series will ride the wave, too, breaking records.
