After a few slow episodes, “The Clearing” finally picks up pace in the second-to-last episode. In the recap of episode 7 of Season 1 of The Clearing, “This Too Shall Pass,” Freya discovers many things that scare her.

Recapping Season 1, Episode 7 of The Clearing

Amy starts the show by discussing the court case where she lost custody of Max because she left her alone in the car in the middle of the day. Presently, Wayne is sending Max home while he takes care of Billy and Freya. Freya tries to talk to her before she goes, but Max doesn’t want anything to do with her. Freya goes to speak to Adrienne about her restarting The Kindred, and she won’t keep quiet about it. On the other hand, Adrienne tells her what can happen if she doesn’t shut up. It leads to a memory of when Adrienne went to see her in a psych ward after Max died and helped her get out.

Freya told Joe that they were trying to make The Kindred house again. But when they get there, the house is empty. Joe says that she has Alzheimer’s disease and that Freya made up all of this. Freya tells Joe the truth, that they lied, and that she doesn’t have Alzheimer‘s. He is angry because he could have locked her up, but Adrienne got Freya to put her back in the psych ward by threatening her. We go back to when Freya first left the mental hospital and went to dinner with Wayne. It makes them want to sleep together. That night, Freya asked Wayne if he could slowly see them getting back together and starting a new life together. He hesitates a lot and says that he needs to protect Max.

Joe found a picture of a car parked outside the lodge in 1989 on Colin’s desk. The vehicle was registered to Colin’s wife in her birth name, which was not her married name. Joe put the pieces together and went to talk to him. Colin said Adrienne threatened him, so he had to do what she asked.

Abigail invites Adrienne to a wedding, and people feel different about her being there. Joe grabs the microphone and tells everyone at the party that Adrienne is lying about her illness and should be in jail. Anton goes up on stage and punches Joe. Freya freaks out and runs away. Outside, Anton’s wife, Ebonie, is in the car with Freya. She introduces herself and says that they are the initiates. Anton says Adrienne is ready to go before Freya can talk to her about what she said.

About the Series

The psychological thriller “The Clearing” is based on the book ‘In the Clearing’ by J.P. Pomare, which was inspired by an Australian cult. The Clearing is based on what happened in the 1960s with a cult called “The Family,” which stole children and raised them to think they were Jesus’ Apostles. Anne Hamilton-Byrne was in charge of that group. She made the people around her believe she was Jesus Christ. Teresa Palmer plays Freya, the main character, in the eight-episode series. Miranda Otto plays Matriah, a cult leader, and Guy Pearce plays Dr. Bryce Latham.

In ‘The Clearing,’ a woman faces her worst fears to stop a cult from putting together a group of children to carry out its big plan. At the show’s start, someone is taken hostage, which is how we meet The Kindred. It’s a group of well-behaved kids with blonde bob haircuts who meet their new sisters and explain themselves. Mariah, who they call “Mother,” is in charge of the group. She has so much power over them that they fear her like God. Even a simple look is enough to make them scared. Freya, one of the little girls of The Kindred, tells the story from her point of view. Freya remembers her past with The Kindred after being taken from her home city and getting PTSD.

Conclusion

In Season 1 Episode 7 of ‘The Clearing,’ there was much to recap. It also had a lot of things that didn’t make sense. We finally know more about Freya and Adrienne’s relationship, as well as Freya’s connection with Wayne and why Freya did not raise Max as her child. We got a lot of answers, which made us happy. But the ending was so tense and scary that we’ll be tossing and turning in our beds until next week’s finale, which will be on July 5.
