When it comes to drama series, Netflix has some of the best TV series and movies collections that the OTT platform members can several times without getting bored. If you are looking forward to watching a show where the protagonist has a disturbing past and can not reveal it to anyone, then The Five Juanas is the perfect drama series with a dark and bewildering storyline.

Crew And Plot Of The Series

The Five Juanas or La Venganza de las Juanas is a drama film which has been written by Jimena Romero and it has been directed by Pepe Castro and Rodrigo Ugalde de Haene. The series is adapted from a Colombian TV show in the late 90s called Las Juanas by Bernardo Romero Pereira.

The show tickles and makes the audience enjoy the guilty pleasures. The show casts some very sensational and amazing actors, and in the series, we can see:

  • Zuria Vega is playing the role of Juana Manuela.
  • Renata Notni is playing the character of Juana Valentina.
  • Oka Giner playing the role of Juana Caridad.
  • Juanita Arias is playing the character of Juana Matilde.
  • Sofia Engberg is playing the role of Juana Bautista.
  • Carlos Ponce is playing the character of Simon Marroquin.
  • Jorge Antonio Guerrero is playing the role of Lorenzo.
  • Ludyvina Velarde is playing the character of Catalina De Marroquin.
  • Veronica Merchant is playing the role of Susana.
  • Mauricio Isaac is playing the character of Victor.

The plot of the series is about five women who have identical birthmarks in the same place who have set out to discover the truth about their pasts and discover a heart-wrenching web of lies.

Review Of The Show

The show started with an overhead shot where Simon Marroquin, a character of the show, lay on the red couch with a voiceover talking about dark secrets. The overhead shot became an intercut with glimpses of stylized sex scenes covered in blue light. The scene then cuts to Cancun, where the audience is introduced to the Juanas.

While watching the episodes of the Five Juanas, I noticed that the writer had given fate a very significant role here because the writer of the show made sure several things would happen, and none of them would go unnoticed, such as the introductory scene deliberately showed each Juana’s bare ass in close-up so that the audience would get a good look at the birthmark.

All the five Juanas end up under one hotel at the same time, and during an earthquake that follows the evacuation of the complete building, puts all the Juanas out on the part patio. In another scene, the audience saw the buttcheeks in close-up so the Juanas could realize something strange is going on with their lives and not just because they all have a birthmark shaped like a fish.

The plot of the series was a perfect pace, and the acting of the skills was amazing as well. After watching the first episode, it felt as if one would expect what could happen in the next episode, but it had plenty of twists to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. The series had plenty of hazy flashbacks and several voiceovers where the audience could hear the innermost thoughts of the characters.

There were a lot of explicit scenes in the movie, which makes it unideal to watch with people, but it is good enough to binge-watch. Overall, the series is good enough worth your time, and one would not get bored watching the series.

News About The Sequel

The first season of the show was released on October 6, 2021, and in such a short period of time, the series has received immense love and support all around the world, and their love can be seen on the IMDB rating 7.1 out of 10 which may increase according to the number of voting.

High ratings and reviews are very important for a show to get a second season, and the viewership is equally important since the show has a good viewership and has a positive review. Moreover, the first season of the show ended in a cliffhanger which is a signal that the series will receive a second season.

Now, if we are talking about the release date of the second season of the Five Juanas, it can be assumed that the premiere of the new season can be sooner or later in 2022.

But the fans of the show have to wait because the show is recently launched, and Netflix will not give any statement about the second season as it will take time to form a good script, and the production date should match with the actresses’ schedule. Fans can only wait at the moment for an official statement issued by Netflix.
