Tom and Jerry need no new introduction, given its immense popularity since the 1940s. Everyone has grown up watching the rivalry between these legendary characters. The stage is now ready for yet another adaptation of the cartoon series. Directed by Tim Story, the live-action animation is creating quite a lot of buzz already.
This occasion would mark the first adaptation of the characters since 1992. The film had been under discussion for several years, and there were lots of creative differences between the creators. Until finally, it received the green light from Warner Bros in 2018.
When will it Release?
The wait for the film is not going to be extended. The film kicked off its pre-production shortly after its announcement. Consequently, filming began in July 2019 and was completed earlier this year. That meant the movie remained unaffected by the pandemic.
The initial release date for the film was in March of 2021. Luckily for the fans, WB decided to prepone the release to later this year. Christmas promises to be a blast for children and adults alike as the Tom and Jerry movie will release in theaters near you on December 23, 2020.
What is the Cast?
The rivalry will be hitting the big screens with the voices of several popular actors of this generation. The film will use archival recordings to voice the characters of Tom and Jerry. William Hanna, Mel Blanc, June Foray, and Paul will be voicing Jerry while William Hanna, Mel Blanc, and Daws Butler will give voice to Tom.
The movie will be a live-action and animated comedy. Actor Chloë Grace Moretz and Michael Peña will be appearing on screen, and later Colin Jost, Ken Jeong, and Rob Delaney are going to join them. So quite a few well-known names will be littering the space.
What is the Story?
The secret of any comedy movie lies in its story. So it is understandable why Warner Bros is keeping theirs in so secrecy. The film will once again be going to center around the rivalry of the duo. They are going to get kicked out of their home at the start of the film.
Stranded, Tom and Jerry will come to New York City. Jerry will take residence in a posh New York hotel where Kayla works, played by Moretz. The hotel is preparing for a lavish wedding ceremony. And a big no-no is that any event is a mouse running around. So she has been tasked with the responsibility to get rid of Jerry. Unable to do that herself, Kayla brings in Tom for help.
Is there a trailer yet?
Sadly for the fans, there is no one out yet. But with the film is expected to be out in December, it should not be long now.
The film has got a lot of people excited. Tom and Jerry is a cartoon that many has grown up with, and seeing them on screen is always a bonus. The duo remained remarkably silent on television, with their actions doing the talking. So the reception of the modern approach among the fans would be an interesting point. Anyway, laughter should not be in short supply in the theaters.
