Recap of Season 8

Elizabeth sacrificed her spouse, Mountie Jack Thornton, in a freak accident in season 5, sees Lucas as a new beginning. She eventually recognized that whatever romantic sentiments she had for Nathan were from her inability and let go of her former love.
