What Is The Story About?
The story is narrated from the point of view of a seventeen-year-old boy named John Boy. John is the eldest child of the Walton’s. The movie is set in the year 1933.
John’s mother wants him to help her while she’s busy bringing up her other siblings. And his father is adamant about teaching him how to raise a family in a good manner and how to take care of various needs of the family. But nobody asked John what he really wanted. John wanted to become a writer. That’s something that he wished for almost every time.
In the story, we see that later in life, John’s father is writing a letter to his wife, Olivia. In the letter, he stated that he would return home for Christmas. The announcement itself made the family very happy, but there was a severe snowstorm at that time, and as stated by John, he couldn’t come back home. The worried wife and lonely mother, Olivia, is very anxious, and she sends her son John to go in search of his father.
