Jeopardy! just aired a new episode for the second consecutive night on the 22nd of March, 2022- not only that, but we saw a new champion emerge. So who is this new winner, and what went down in this very eventful episode?
The Contestants
Let us first introduce you to our participants.
First, we have Margaret Chipowsky from Lawrenceville, New Jersey, who won the right to play on Tuesday. The attorney was able to win $18,000 on Monday night. Our second contestant was Caitlin Gillooly from Boston, who professionally works in e-commerce. The third contestant calls himself Mihir Nene. He is an engineer from Rochester, New York.
How Things Unfolded
The returning champion, Chipowsky got an early lead totaling $7200. Gillooly and Nene finished the first round with $4600. By the time ‘Double Jeopardy!’ ended, they had built up their winnings quite a bit. Chipowsky was leading with $20,600, Gillooly trailer closely behind with $15,400, and Nene remained a little further away with $12,500. ‘Final Jeopardy’ saw the game change completely. Chipowsky had a great track record to live up to, Nene had an aggressive wager riding for him, and Gillooly seemed pumped and focused.
“And the Winner is…”
Two of the three players were completely stumped by the question that was posed in the last round. Historic Nicknames were the category- The question asked involved a nickname given to Napoleon by his soldiers, not in a mocking way, but in admiration of his military capabilities.
The answer, of course, would be, What is The Little Corporal?
Gillooly attempted with “What is the brave little soldier”, while Chipowsky tried- “What is The Little General”. Nene was the only one who answered correctly and nearly doubled his total. The engineer emerged the unlikely winner, wowing the audiences with his historic knowledge.
Final Winnings
Here is how the contestants’ winnings stood by the end of the game-
Mihir Nene- $24,999
Margaret Chipowsky- $10,300
Caitlin Gillooly- $0
Overall the episode was quite gripping from end to end. Nene surprised audiences with his incredible recovery of points and a wager that really paid off. Chipowsky’s performance was also impressive, as the returning champion proved her mettle through the course of the game.
