Despite its mildly alarming storyline, which hopefully is far from reality – the popularity of the Netflix show You skyrocketed ever since the first season came out in 2017.
After two seasons that were both wonderful and chilling in their own way, the show ended the latest season on a cliffhanger. This left many fans worldwide eagerly waiting for the third season to come out and to their relief, it might be here soon– since the filming for the season finally ended in April of 2021.
Although the show has a storyline that might come across to a complete stranger as psychotic and dramatic, the show itself carries it so well with a stellar script and exceptional acting. All put together, the series has so far and probably will continue to deliver horror on a golden platter – inviting more and more people to watch and enjoy the show.
Release Date for You Season 3
Although this series was renewed for a third season early in 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic across the world – the shooting of the scenes started only in November 2020. Netflix made this announcement through their social media handle by posting a picture of the lead actor, wearing a mask that read his signature line ‘Hello You’.
The specific release date is yet to be released, even though it was announced that the filming of the episodes had been wrapped up as of April of this year. How long the production will take is a question Netflix must answer. They have however commented that the third season will be aired sometime between the months of October to December of 2021.
Cast for You Season 3
Although we might not know much, we however do know that the lead actors – Penn Badgley and Victoria Pedretti will be returning to the screen for the third season. other actors that will surely return to contribute to the story are Jenna Ortega, Saffron Burrows, and Dylan Arnold among several others.
There is also talk of a bunch of new characters, including Joe’s new potential love interest that will be played by Michaela McManus (a woman who lives a high-class life alongside her rich and wealthy husband). Other than this there are new characters especially since Love and Joe are starting life in a new house, surrounded by new neighbors, and will surely make new friends in new social circles.
Story for You Season 3
Although the seasons so far have heavily depended on the book series of the same name, the upcoming season seems to be going on a tangent of its own. In the book, the new love interest Joe has is completely different and opposing to the one the show plans to portray. The woman who is actually a city librarian in the book is an affluent, beautiful lady who also happens to be his neighbor.
Another stark difference is the fact the Love is going to be a series regular although the book pretty much disregards her presence in the heart of Joe’s new obsession. This might indicate that the show will also follow her pregnancy and the child that is born to Joe and Love.
The rate at which the show went viral – especially after Netflix got streaming rights is not something that many shows achieve. It is thus expected that the upcoming season will also be a mega-hit and cater to the fans’ excitement. The surprisingly well-combined genres cater to a niche section of the audience, as well as those that enjoy even mid thrillers.
It is also rumored that the author of the series of novels is working on a fourth book. So, the fans can rest assured that there will probably be more of You coming our way soon.
